Kevin Kolb and the Arizona Cardinals beat the New England Patriots.
Yes, that happened on Sunday, but Kevin Kolb and the Arizona Cardinals came into New England and won. It actually happened.
If this was Inception, Saito would be sure that the game felt like “ a half remembered dream with Mr. Kolb.”
Seriously, where did that performance come from?
It’s not that Kolb was particularly impressive with his 15-27 for 140 yards, but he managed to get his team in the endzone twice. The week before he came in late as a replacement for Matt Skelton and also threw for a touchdown.
Kolb went from being a $63 million man with a clip board to a $63 million man with a slight chance to become more than mediocre. For the first time, Kevin Kolb has a chance to get some momentum going in a Cardinals uniform.
Next week, the Cardinals take on the Eagles in Arizona. Last year, the Cardinals upset the Eagles in a game where Kolb was shouting at the defense on what plays the Eagles were running. Can Kolb figure out his former team just like last year?
If the Cardinals do beat the Eagles, however, it will most likely be because of their defense. In their first two games, the Cardinals defense played lights out. They held one of the best offenses in check, keeping a 20-9 lead for most of the second half. Against Seattle, the Cardinals held their opponent to 254 yards. Seattle exploded against Dallas, but looked sloppy against Arizona.
With a 3-4 defense, Arizona is playing like a top ten defense in the league. Technically they’re 13th in yards per game, but their backfield is promising. Patrick Peterson and William Gay make for solid cornerbacks, but it’s Kerry Rhodes who was all over New England Sunday.
Up front, Darrell Docket and Paris Lenon have provided plenty of pressure. Together the pair has four sacks on the year. In fact, the Cardinals defense is fourth in the league in sacks with seven.
So while the Patriots did have a chance to comeback on a final drive, the Cardinals ultimately held them off. With so many teams 1-1, the Cardinals are one of six teams that remain undefeated.
The Cardinals are 2-0, even if it feels like a dream.

I honestly see this one coming down heavily to the calls by the refs. Eagles got away with one last week, and I just see it happening again. Eagles D definitely gets credit in my opinion. They seem to know exactly how far to push their luck with the replacement refs without getting caught.

Forget this guy the story is if these replacement refs are blowing calls for the striking refs it's awesome. I think the players support it to. Look at the calls.

I believe this game will be decided in the trenches though. Arizona will be going up against a defense that is much better than Seattle's or the Patriots, definitely when it comes to the defensive line. The Eagles too though will have to hope their offensive line which now has two starters out of it can hold up against the Cardinals.
