What we learned from the last episode of the Dolphins’ Hard Knocks Stuck
Posted on September 6, 2012 at 05:00 PM.

After spending all of august with the Miami Dolphins, HBO’s Hard Knocks program is finally over.

Here’s what we learned from the final episode

Joe Philbin is starting to lose his patience
By going 0-4 in the preseason, Joe Philbin started finally unraveling. The normally conservative Philbin let off numerous “that’s bull****” as his team struggled to execute. Philbin acknowledged that his team had a lot of work to do and most likely was going to be awful in September.

Isaako Aaitui seemed devastated going to the Jets
Is the situation in New York that bad? When defensive tackle Issako Aaitui was picked up by the Jets on waivers, Aaitui was on the verge of tears. Did he really want to be on the Dolphins’ practice squad than playing for an NFL team? I understand feeling close to his teammates, but he was getting another chance to play in the NFL.

Ironically, in his first practice as a Jet, Aaitui tore his ACL and MCL. He was waived after.

Maybe he has a chance to be a Dolphin afterall, just next year.

The receiving core is pitiful
Without watching Hard Knocks, people could have said this. However, Mike Sherman pulling out Roberto Wallace mid game and deciding he was cut demonstrated just how frustrated Dolphins fans should feel at that position. The Dolphins are in a bad shape when cut Chad Johnson got more airtime than Devon Bess and Austin Hartline.

Other Thoughts
- Congrats to Javaroski Lane being out of football for three years and making a team. I always like hearing stories like that.

- I could have done without the Chad Johnson interview and more footage of Philbin dealing with Karlos Dansby’s comments.

- HBO’s coverage of Jarrell Root and then him getting cut was gut wrenching. Root was very likable throughout the series and I hope he gets another shot once he’s healed.

- “We’ve got to improve a hell of a lot.”

- “I’ve been in place where’s it taken time to build something great.”

I still think the chad Johnson cut was very surprising.
