Five NFL coaches on the Hot Seat Stuck
Posted on August 22, 2012 at 03:47 AM.

Last year, seven head coaches were fired in the NFL. Tony Soprano and Jack Del Rio were ticking time bombs that were doomed to fail. But as coaches like Todd Haley and Raheem Morris found out, a disappointing season can easily get a head coach the boot in the NFL as well.

Every year coaches are put on the hot seat and this year is no exception. Here are five head coaches that need to watch their job in the 2012 season.

Leslie Frazier

A youth movement in Minnesota doesn’t help Frazier’s chances, but his coaching record stands at 6-16. The Vikings already went through a nasty firing with Brad Childress in 2010, when the team got off to a 3-7 start. In Frazier’s first year, the Vikings went 3-13. It’ll take a fast start and a much improved season for Frazier to keep his coach.

Norv Turner

How Turner and GM AJ Smith weren’t fired at the end of last season was mind boggling. Previous coach Marty Schottenheimer can get fired for a 14-2 season, but Turner still lives after failing to make the playoffs for two years in a row? For years, Turner has had the talent on his rosters. While the Chargers are weaker this year, he’ll have to have his team produce if he wants to save his job.

Andy Reid

The Eagles had high expectations this season and many experts are pegging them to win the NFC East. If they fail to meet expectations, the NFL’s longest running head coach could meet his demise. Here’s to Vick staying healthy.

Rex Ryan

It might be too soon to discuss the firing of Rex Ryan. How could a coach that has made it to the playoffs in two of his three years be on the Hot Seat? If the Jets continue to be a circus this year, Ryan could be the fall guy. Ryan’s high-profile personality worked great for the team at first. However, even Ryan admitted that he lost control of the locker room last year. This could be a situation of live by the sword/die by the sword.

Mike Smith

Mike Smith might seem like another interesting choice for this list. He’s made the playoffs three out of his four years, after all. Still, he’s yet to win a playoff game. Last year’s loss to the Giants was particularly embarrassing with how their offense failed to get going. Smith will need that offense to get going and finally win a playoff game.

Honorable mentions: Pat Shurmur, Jason Garrett, Lovie Smith, Ken Whisenhunt, and Mike Shanahan

What coaches are the next to be fired? Let us know in the comments.

Turner will be gone, Rex Ryan is almost out the door if they win 6 games, Not only did get guarantee a SB but NE got to the SB and the other NY team WON the SB. If they start off bad and dont care about Rex like what happened late last year and they start losing idk if Rex will make it to week 14!

Dont forget MIA HC, he already let go of Johnson and is acting like MIN old HC when Favre had Moss, he could easily lose his job this year or next year!

If Turner does terrible they will release him, if not then hes staying. Rex is probably the closest coach to being fired on this list I believe this guy has a lot of talent on that team year in and year out and they always seem to have a circus going on with his team I just don't understand it.
