"And with the 24th selection in the 2013 NFL Draft the Indianapolis Colts select......" That is what Colt fans all wanna know. Who is really worthy of that pick? The is speculation of trading back into the early 2nd and picking up another 3rd or 4th for next year. Every analyst has their 2 cents of who we need to draft. I've seen from DT to DB and OL to HB. The only one I haven't seen is QB. With this trade for a WR still up in the air and no one having any clue ,but Irsay and his tweets you need a CIA specialist to crack, here is my draft board.
1(24). Tavon Austin- WR from West Virginia
This kid has undeniable ability with ability to make big plays in very little space. Often described as "Lightning in a bottle" He is a slot receiver that can take hand-offs and do damage at the return end too. I say put TY at the 2 and Austin at the 3.
3(86). Tyrann Mathieu- DB from LSU
Ok some off you stopped reading this but hear me out. Kid got into some off the field issues but went to rehab and got himself right. He dropped an amazing 40 time for being out of football a year. Showed great footwork and hand-ball coordination during drills and fielding punts. Sure he only benched 4 reps but his nose for finding the ball and making big plays is undeniable. I say this late 3rd round pick is good for a player with such a high upside.
4(121). T.J. McDonald- FS from USC
Ok I don't know where we pick from here due to compensatory picks that I didn't pay attention too. Some of you are going who is this guy I've never heard of. Let me tell you. He is a 6'2 safety that hits like a missile according to NFL Network. Compared to Bernard Pollard and his father a SB winner safety with the 49ers in '94. He should have went to the draft last year where he was ranked the 2nd best FS behind Mark Barron but now ,due to USC season that went from National Title expectations to losing the Sun Bowl, he is viewed as a low round talent.
6(?). Tanner Hawkinson-OL from Kansas
Was a beast his freshman year and has been solid every year since becoming known as one of the best lineman in jayhawk history.
7(?). BPA
Its the 7th round. Go and get the best player still there.
Update!
2-(38th) Marcus Lattimore "From AZ"
Most of you just re-read that first line checking to make sure you read that correctly. Yes I stated two big things. First that the talent needy Cardinals under, Coach of the Year, Bruce Arians trade back up into the first round to fill some needs at OL or QB with either DJ Fluker or one of the debated QB's in Barkley, Nassib, or Manuel. Personally I see them trading for this pick by giving us their 2nd, 4th, and a future pick or 5th rounder and grabbing Fluker then drafting Tyler Bray in the 3rd as the QB in training because it's Carson Palmer and Arians has talked up Bray... Now secondly I said we will take Marcus Lattimore. It just makes sense to me. We need a franchise RB. He has it wrote all over him. Put him on the PUP list and let NFL doctors rehab him. Let Ballard and Company continue this running game to give Lucks arm a couple snaps of rest but to the future I just can't see Ballard being that guy.
4(106) Tharold Simon- CB from LSU "From AZ"
This cat is from 'DB U' according to NFL.com. He is just what the Colts need as far as a big tall physical corner at 6'3 195lbs. He is widely considered a raw talent but managed 4INTs before declaring for the draft. Should the Colts miss out on Tyrann Mathieu I say Simon is a definite must.
5(140) Sio Moore- OLB from Connecticut "From AZ"
With no replacement for Freeny and Mathis beginning to show signs of wear and tear. At 6'1 245 he is not the biggest guy but doesn't play like it. He got high grades for sticking to his man or his gap, almost glue within 5 yards. He is not the fastest or biggest,as previously stated, but he brings tremendous on field intelligence and awareness. I see him as low risk high reward if he is still here at this pick.
