WEEK 1 RAMS VS CARDINALS RECAP:

This is my connected career mode in which I will be playing as a coach. I will be Ken Whisenhunt and will try to win the superbowl with the Arizona Cardinals. 1st Season in Franchise Mode:
The season objective is to make the playoffs. I started the season with Kevin Kolb at QB but he was terrible throwing for 1,628 yards with 10 TD's and 18 INT's so decided enough is enough and put john skelton in. I think our record at the time was 2-6.
Enter Skelton and we go 7-1 inlcuding a week 17 thrashing of the 49ers 35-20 to clinch a playoff spot with record of 9-7. season objective achieved.
Skelton threw for 2,456 yards with 22 TD's and 13 INT's with 60% rate. Skelton is now the QB of the future definetely for the cardinals.
Larry Fitzgerald made the prowl bowl and had his highest receiving TD total of 14. He had 110 receptions, 1,424 yards and 14 TD's.
1st year RB Ryan Williams was a sensation as he rushed for 1,288 yards with 13 TD's and a 5.0 per carry. He is now the teams starting HB but Beanie Wells will still be part of the team as he will be needed for tough yard situations in future.
Rookie WR Micheal Floyd suffered a wrist injury which ruled him out of the season but he finished with 37 receptions, 619 yards and 3 TD's. He is primed for a breakout season next season.
Breakout Star of the Season:
TE Rob Housler had a mini breakout season snatching 38 recpetions, 753 yards and 5 TD's. He is now a featured part of the offense.

PLAYOFFS AND SUPERBOWL:
The Arizona Cardinals lost in the wildcard in the playoffs to the Dallas Cowboys. SUPERBOWL 47 was played by the New England Patriots vs the New Orleans Saints. The Saints won their second Superbowl this time with no controversy given the suspensions the team endured during the 2012 season with suspension of their HC Sean Payton and MLB Jonathan Vilma. This is a remarkable achievement and now Drew Brees has won two SB MVPs and cemented his status in the Hall of Fame for sure.
[font="Arial"]BREAKING NEWS OF THE OFFSEASON[/FONT:
Former Arizona Cardinals, New York Giants and St. Louis Rams QB Kurt Warner has had enough of the studio life and will dust off his cleats and has decided to return to football. the 40 year Old QB feels he can still play and is not satisfied and wants one more shot at a SB.
Next up Offseason Needs/ signings and draft
OFFSEASON TEAM NEEDS:
HC Ken Whisenhunt has identified his team needs and has realized that this team is a few pieces away from winning a superbowl. The following are the team needs for the cardinals this offseason:
QB- John Skelton is good and solid starter but still developing and not yet elite. The Cardinals will try to sign Kurt Warner and many believe he still has his skills. In order to win SB 49, which will be played in Arizona at the least, the Cardinals need an Elite QB.
OL- The C, LG AND RT positions are solidified but the team needs find a LT and solidify the RG Position. Adam Snyder is good but not great and Levi Brown is..Levi. Enough said.
CB- Patrick Peterson is close to being a shutdown CB as he shutdown some of the best receivers in the game consistently during he 2012 season. However the other CB position is not solidified and hence needs to be solidified. In Ray Horton's Attacking 3-4 defence, the success depends on having an excellent secondary especially CB who are great in man to man coverage and excellent zone safeties which the cardinals have in Rhodes and Wilson.
LB- Stewart Bradley played well enough to lock down the starting spot and the group is set although depth would be needed due to O'Brien Schofield's injury proneness.
FREE AGENT SIGNINGS BY THE CARDINALS:
QB-Kurt Warner, Kurt Warner is back in the desert and everyone in Glendale and whole of arizona is in jubilant mood.It is not often you get the chance to sign a future HOF QB coming back from retirement. HC Ken Whisenhunt said" Kurt loves the cardinals and this deal is good for both parties. he feels he has an unfinished business and that's to bring a SB title to the cardinals". QB Kurt Warner said he is still seething from the 2009 SB defeat to the Steelers and wants another shot to win it again and feels the cardinals were the best fit and had the roster to do it.

RG- Kraig Urbik,The cardinals also shored up their offensive line by signing RG Kraig Urbik in Free Agency. Urbik is an excellent pass blocker and no slouch in the run game either.
NOTABLE FREE AGENT SIGNINGS AROUND THE LEAGUE:
Miami Dolphins signed QB Matt Schaub and WR Randy Moss.
Houston Texans signed QB Jason Campbell. This is a good opportunity for Jason Campbell who has been injured in the past and missed opportunities to become a starter.
Dallas Cowboys singed WR/KR Josh Cribbs.
Buffalo Bills beefed up their defensive line by signing DE Andre Carter.
THE 2013 NFL DRAFT:
Arizona Cardinals had an excellent draft class. Arizona solidfied the CB spot by drafting CB Randy Butler from Tennesse. Randy is an excellent man to man coverage CB and best in the draft. He was considered a top5 pick but slipped due to off-field issues.
Arizona Cardinals further solidified their secondary by drafting FS Tony Price from UTEP. Arizona Cardinals traded back into the 2nd round to pick the K Jason Kinslow. He has been dubbed the next Sebastian Janikowski.
NFL Draft - Round 1 Recap | |||||
Pick | Player | College | Pos | Ht | Wt |
1 | RANDY BUTLER | TENNESSE | CB | 6'2 | 215 |
2 | TONY PRICE | UTEP | FS | 6'0 | 198 |
2 | JASON KINSLOW | FLORIDA STATE | K | 5'11 | 225 |
7 | BLAKE GANDY | NW MISSOURI STATE | RDE | 6'3 | 286 |
*Note Blake Gandy is a 7th round Pick who slipped and has beend dubbed a big steal for Cardinals. He was expected to go in the 2nd Round but slipped. He plays with a big chip on his shoulder.
2013 PREASEASON
Arizona Finished 4-0 in a very good preseason. QB Kurt Warner looked like he hasn't missed a beat and was excellent in all 4 games. The news from preseason is that CB Randy Butler is the real deal. He finished preseason with 6 picks in 4 games and this was against starters in 1st half of each of the cardinals 4 games. Arizona's secondary looks like a force to be reckoned with.
Arizona Cardinals are expected to contend for atleast an NFC Championship and win the SB although experts say that failing to solidify that LT spot will ultimately cost the team down the road. Most experts expect the Cardinals to win the NFC WEST with around 10 or 11 wins.
