Recap: An exciting day of home runs and lead changes ended on a sour note for the Dodgers Saturday as they dropped the 2nd contest of a 3 game set to visiting Nationals, 7-6. Los Angeles was led by Andre Ethier who had 3 RBI's and his 6th home run of the season. Matt Kemp added 3 hits including a double. Clayton Kershaw failed to win for his 4th consecutive game to start the season. He sits at 0-2.

Notes: After the game, Washington's Bryce Harper was overheard saying "My 2nd inning home run was the difference in the game. I know it was the first run scored, but without it, there's no way we would have won."

Recap: Chipper Jones proved too much for the LA pitching staff last night, hitting two home runs in what was otherwise the best performance by a starter this season. Aaron Harang pitched 9 innings of 3-hit ball, the only run coming on Jones' 2nd inning dinger. The Dodgers tied it in the bottom of the 9th on an RBI single by Mark Ellis, but Jones came through again in the top of the 10th with a 2-run jack off of Atlanta closer Craig Kimbrel. Mike Minor matched Harang, pitching 7 scoreless innings.

Notes: The Dodgers have a day off before hosting the Nationals for a 3-game set.

Recap: The Dodgers relied on strong pitching and the hot bat of James Loney to ensure the series win with a 3-2 triumph over Atlanta tonight. Loney went 3-4 with two 2-baggers and an RBI, coming around to score once as well. It was his second consecutive 3-hit performance. Ted Lilly pitched 6 strong innings for his first victory of the year, and the bullpen was perfect in relief of him. Lilly also drove in a run with a clutch single in the 2nd.

Notes: Dee Gordon's hit streak came to an end at 9 games with an 0-4 performance.

Recap: What began as a successful road trip turned in to a quiet plane ride back to LA Sunday night as the Astros completed a 3-game sweep of the Dodgers with an 8-2 game. Pitching, offense and defense were all to blame. In a mid-flight interview, manager Don Mattingly alluded to a possible roster move, but that the person to be moved is not the only reason for the 3-game skid. "The whole team looked terrible in Houston. That's all I have to say."

Notes: Jerry Hairston homered for the 2nd consecutive day. Dee Gordon extended his hitting streak to 8 games. Despite a 1-3 day, C Josh Bard was optioned to AAA Albuquerque after the game. C A.J. Ellis was recalled from Albuquerque to take his place. Bard was hitting .095 on the season.

Recap: The Dodgers couldn't get anything going on either side of the ball at Minute Maid Park today. Only a 1st inning home run by Jerry Hairston Jr. on offense, and the pitching staff combined to give up 13 runs on 17 hits, including a grand slam to Astros 2nd baseman Matt Downs. One more tomorrow afternoon here in Houston, then back home to face the Braves.

Notes: Dee Gordon extended his hitting streak to 7 games. The home run was Hairston's 3rd after taking over the starting spot in the second week of the season.

Game notes: The Dodgers 5-game winning streak ended in Houston tonight with a 6-4 loss to the Astros. A 3-run start to the game in the top of the first wasn't enough to propel LA to victory, as they only managed one hit, a solo home run in the 8th by Matt Kemp, the rest of the game. Starter Aaron Harang struggled in the middle innings, giving up 4 runs in the 4th. On a good note, the bullpen was nearly perfect in a mop-up role.

Game notes: The Dodgers finished the 3-game road sweep of the Brewers tonight in extra innings. It took until the 12th, but Juan Uribe came through with a home run in the top of the inning. Fortunately, Dee Gordon added an RBI single later in the frame, as Milwaukee came back with a run in the bottom of the inning. That's 5 wins in a row for LA, as they take their road trip to Houston tomorrow.

Game notes: What a night for the Dodgers offense. Dee Gordon raised his batting average by 93 points with a 6-6 performance at the plate including a pair of doubles. Jerry Hairston Jr. and Andre Ethier both homered for the second night in a row. It seemed that everyone got in on the action. Not to be forgotten in the mix was a more than adequate start from Chad Billingsley and a near-perfect bullpen showing. Tomorrow night is the series finale in Milwaukee where Los Angeles goes for thier 5th straight win.

Game notes: Clayton Kershaw struggled with his control tonight, walking 5 Brewers in 6 innings of work, but his defense backed him up with 4 double plays. Unfortunately, he didn't last long enough to get a decision, as Matt Kemp's 425ft. 2-run blast in the top of the 8th was the difference in the game as the Dodgers took the opening contest of this 3-game set, 3-1. Also of note: Andre Ethier's 8-game hitting streak came to an end with an 0-4 performance tonight. He'll have to start over again tomorrow to try to match his 30-game streak from a year ago.

In a sucessful home series against the division rival Padres, the Dodgers managed to squeak out 2 wins in the 3 game set. Both wins came by a 2-1 score and were vastly different. Don Mattingly used a new lineup in the series finale, but it was pitching and Andre Ethier that ended up being the difference. Ethier led off the 10th inning with a walk-off inside the park home run to finish off the Padres. Mark Ellis injured his forearm during the game, but with a day off before travelling to Milwaukee, he isn't expected to miss much, if any playing time.
