Wish...

What is it about sports? Why does sports bring out the best and the worst of people. Growing up you would always know the teams you love and the teams you hate.

For myself, I grew up representing 4 teams; Dolphins, Dodgers, Duke and the Charlotte Hornets. I would live and die with my teams. My mom would always try to tell me, "it's just a game." but we know that this is more than just a game.

For every person out there I know you have that one wish for your sports team. That one thing that if achieved would make you so happy that it shows sports is more than just a game.

I remember growing up the closing thing I had to a wish coming true was when Duke won the National Championship. But I was too young to remember or care, even in 2001.

It feels as if hearts are broken than wishes achieved. But their is always hope. Just look at the Phillies or the Giants. Philadelphia was in one of the worst droughts for championship gold it was unbelievable. The Giants were told they had no chance and shocked the world.

After this year of events it got me to thinking. Why can't this year be my year. And I know everyone else has the same thought, "Why can't this be my year?".

Which brings me to my main thought, if you could have one wish for your sports team, what would it be? Would it be cutting down the nets in March or June? Would it be holding up that Lombardi trophy? What is your one wish for your sports team?

For myself it would be seeing the Dolphins finally win another Super Bowl. This wish is not just for me but for my father. He was only seven years old when the Dolphins went on that magical run, and now he is in his forties and well does not remember that run. We were so close back in '85 he says, with Dan Marino at the helm. But we have not been close since. Last year was the toughest, you could really see it, not just in me but in my dad. And now that we are winning again, it just feels different. So that is what I want. I want to see my Miami Dolphins win the Super Bowl.

What would be yours?

My wish is to see the Bills finally win a Super Bowl. Let me tell you, I used to run my mouth every single year saying "The Bills are gonna win they're gonna win it all!!!!" Every year they kept letting me down. SB XXV was the hardest though. I still cringe every time I watch that game. (I have it on disc) So my wish is to see the Bills finally bring the Lombardi trophy to Buffalo.

That's not all though, I wish they'd do it against the Giants!

The Rays were close, but my true love will always be FSU football. To see them bring home the crystal football would be great, not only to win it, but to have fallen pretty far down the hill and make it to the top.

Prior to this year it would have been to see KU win a NCAA Basketball Championship, but because I got that wish, I'd like to see the Royals win a World Series.

I'd be happy just to see them in the playoffs because they've been terrible for so long, but a World Series title is what I really want.

I would love to see the Dodgers win another championship without a doubt in my mind. I've tasted a NBA championship with the Lakers 3 times, never tasted a MLB World Series.

If I had to pick one, I'd go with West Virginia winning the BCS Championship in football, with WVU winning March Madness and Jeff Gordon finally winning another Sprint Cup Title coming in a tie for second place.
