MarinersVsDodgers's Blog
Hello everyone! I hope you have all stood by anxiously checking my page everyday for the latest update on baseball!
The Trade Deadline is this Tuesday, July 31st at 4 p.m. E.T., 1 p.m. P.T. (The timezone I hail from). I wish I could keep a closer eye on the trade deadline but I am out in Cali for some 'business'. Cali is a feature state of many teams up for the division title and even their respective wild cards (Not too sure about the Padres). The Dodgers and Giants are clashing heads right now and the Angels and Athletics are fighting to stay a step ahead of one another and hope to get to the Rangers.
Cali brings me to the topic of the Angels newest acquisition: RHP Zack Greinke from the Milwaukee Brewers. The GM of the Brewers mentioned at the start of the week that Greinke "will be traded by the deadline". I read that the White Sox and Angels were the two teams most actively pursuing Greinke and that it would take a whale of a return for one of the teams to receive Zack from the Brew Crew.
I turned on my laptop today to check the baseball news world to see that the Angels have traded for Zack Greinke, and I realized this: My Mariners have no chance in this division anymore.
All jokes aside; The Angels had to give up a big return for receiving Zack Greinke: Top prospect SS/2B Jean Segura, RHP Ariel Pena, and RHP Johnny Hellweg. Segura was most recently called up and played in a game when the Royals were in Anaheim on July 24th.
With that, who received the better end of this trade?
