MarinersVsDodgers's Blog
This blog is more aimed at struggling ballclub fans...you'll see...
Who watched tonight's (5/30) game of the Mariners facing Texas?
I sure didn't. There's a certain factor that switches on when your team loses a string of games- you're prone to skip a few. So I let this game slip through my fingers.
Unfortunately, I also let slip the fact that Montero went deep, Ackley too, and Justin Smoak as well (twice). Oh, and they scored 21 runs.
Wh-Wh-WHAT? I gave this confused look when I turned on ESPN to see a Seahawks-Cowboys score in the bottomline score-scroller. I changed the channel to ROOT Sports (the channel the Mariners are broadcasted on in my region) and thought to myself...
"How can a team who got perfect-gamed score 21 runs against a reigning AL champion team?"
Baseball is a 162 game season (163 if you're lucky). That's a lot of games to see a ballclub evolve, devolve in some cases, and a team changes often over the course of 162 games. Sometimes I forget that, and I see the Mariners get perfect-gamed, and say 'Oh dear, here comes the 120 losses'. A week later I see them pull off a sweep and now I'm saying 'Watch out Texas, here we come!'
Here's my message folks, it's one that most of you understand now, but for us forgetful members: Your team gets 162 games to change the way they play. Sometimes for better; some for worse. A team will have its on and offs, and the job as a fan is to stick through the storm. Who knows? Maybe your team will come out tomorrow and go for 3 touchdowns by swinging the bat!
Tonight's ceremonial first pitch in Arlington was thrown out by Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.
