Time for a change in broadcast views for sports events
Posted on August 27, 2012 at 09:22 PM.
With Madden 13 being released tomorrow, and reading a thread in the NHL 13 forum, I felt it's time to share something I have felt strongly about for several years now. When is the NFL going to change the way it broadcasts it's games. I feel the view we get in Madden, allows to see what happens on a particular play better, why a play worked or why it got blown up. I feel it provides a better understanding of what the hell we are watching. When I watch on Sunday, and I see Mike Vick complete a 20 yard pass to Jeremy Maclin, I see the play happen, But I didn't see Maclin come open, I didn't see what Vick was looking at before deciding to make that pass. I didn't see the other options. Maybe it's years of playing these games talking, But I want to see the play happen from behind the offense. I want to see that hole open up before Shady McCoy runs through it and chews off 7 yards before he's even touched.

Football isn't the only sport I want to see this. Given the quick back and forth nature of hockey, you couldn't do it the whole game, but while a team is cycling on the powerplay, it would give a nice insight on how that play happened, and why the scoring chance or goal was scored. I realize there are some dinosaurs out there that fear change, But I think adding these behind the offense views to our sports telecasts would only help to educate the viewers on why certain plays happened, and would provide a better understanding of the game to all.

bro this is a great idea, i agree 100%. I have always pictured in my mind a better way of being immersed in an nfl game and i've always thought about it with replays. When you watch the nfl films videos of an nfl game right up close in the action and hearing all the pushing, and grunting and clattering of helmets it really sounds like a war in the trenches and the broadcast on tv does not capture it at all.

Thanks for the comment. I really feel the viewer would see so much more than what is currently being shown on Sundays.

Totally agree to what you are saying about Football, actually i thought of this myself sometime ago lol. hockey works a bit better though with the current broadcast view on tv in my opnion.

Oh yeah hockey it doesn't work the whole game, But say while the team is cycling on the powerplay, it would work, because the play isn't going back and forth as much.
