Washington came out onto the field filled with confidence in front of their home crowd at FedEx Field. It showed from kickoff. Washington came out to a shock 21-0 lead on Carolina with 4:58 left in the second quarter. The Panthers did their best to respond but went into the tunnel at half time down 10-21. Since Carolina received the second half kickoff, hopes were high that if Carolina were able to score and make it a four point contest, that the momentum would shift and the Panthers might complete the comeback. Washington had other ideas, intercepting Tebow in the end zone as has happened before. The defense held their ground though and forced a Washington punt. The Panthers were soon faced with a third and long. Tebow found Ted Ginn jr. in open field, but Ginn dropped the pass. The drop was Ginn's 12th of the season. Coach Ron Rivera swapped Early Doucet and Ted Ginn in the depth chart. Washington scored 10 points to make it nearly impossible to comeback now. Carolina drove down the field only for Jamaal Charles to fail on a fourth and 1. The defense forced another Redskins punt and the Panthers scored off of a Tebow to Ed Dickson touchdown pass. The Panthers opted for the onside kick and recovered! Tebow got another touchdown pass, this time to Jamaal Charles. They couldn't recover the next onside kick and Washington kneeled out the game.

MVP: Ed Dickson 8 catches for 154 yards and 2 touchdowns
