Saturdays game against the Navy Midshipmen was by far, Notre Dame's best game of the year. They played very well on both sides of the ball. After a successful showing against USC, Brian Kelly continued his new balanced offensive game plan. The Irish pounded the ball on the ground routinely while sprinkling in the pass. Between Cierre Wood, Jonas Gray, and George Atkinson, they managed to rush for 291 yards. Wood and Gray were able to both eclipse the 100 yard mark.

Andrew Hendrix continued his strong play since overtaking the starting quarterback spot. He has managed the offense very nicely while passing for 212 yards and 2 touchdowns. Although, it is no secret that Hendrix has benefited from coach Kelly's balanced offensive play calling. "We have had a nice flow and balance to our offense. We hope to continue that on the road against Wake Forest." said Kelly.
The Irish defense turned in their second straight strong performance. They stuffed the Navy option repeatedly holding them to 112 rushing yards. On the day, Navy only managed a total of 253 yards of offense. Irish defenders had 14 tackles for loss and held Navy to 4 of 16 on third down. Harrison Smith picked off Navy quarterback Kriss Proctor twice. Gary Gray also picked him off and returned it for a 70 yard touchdown. It was a dominating game on both sides of the ball.
