Defense holds Purdue offense to 243 total yards

This was the game defensive coordinator Bob Diaco has been waiting for. They held the Purdue offense to 243 total yards and forced 4 turnovers. Purdue quarterback Robert Marve was intercepted three times and fumbled once. Robert Blanton picked him off twice while Harrison Smith had one of his own. Freshman Aaron Lynch, now getting more playing time, recorded two sacks. Linebacker Carlo Calabrese replaced Dan Fox in the starting lineup and played well recording seven tackles.

Coach Brian Kelly decided to start senior Dayne Crist at quarterback. It seemed to be the right choice. Crist started out throwing and running for a touchdown in the first half. Everything was going well until Crist again was hurt. He suffered a herniated disk. He has always had trouble staying on the field and it continued Saturday. Once again, Brian Kelly turned to freshman Everett Golson. The highly touted prospect played well throwing for 119 yards, a touchdown, and an interception in the second half.

Cierre Wood busts loose for a 86 yard touchdown.

Cierre Wood continued his stellar play. He racked up 218 yards from scrimmage and scored a touchdown. In five games this year, Wood has 715 rushing yards with 9 touchdowns with a staggering 8.1 yards per carry average. Hes also managed to catch 15 balls for 140 yards. His name has started to catch some Heisman attention.

Brian Kelly inked his first recruit of the year in Brennan Lacey. He is a 6'5" 288 lb defensive tackle out of West Monroe, Louisiana. Lacey is a 4 star recruit and the #10 ranked defensive tackle in the country.
