Game Notes
NOTRE DAME -Sophomore Tommy Rees won the starting job at quarterback. Coach Brian Kelly will have to call a balanced attack to help Rees settle in. -Running back Cierre Wood is the unquestioned starter. Irish look for him to pick up where he left off at the end of last year. -Manti Te'o is the leader of a defense looking to improve. Irish could have won more games last year if they got more stops. They'll need more this year. USF -Skip Holtz, the son of Irish legend Lou Holtz, returns to Notre Dame to coach his Bulls against Brian Kelly and the Irish. -After playing inconsistently last year, quarterback BJ Daniels needs to play better for the Bulls to win. -South Florida defense will have to keep pressure on the underclassmen Tommy Rees and disrupt the offense.
