Madden Season
Posted on August 16, 2014 at 12:26 AM.
It's getting closer to Madden 15's release date and I thought of all the Madden games I've played in the past. There were some that were memorable, fun, and innovative. As well as some that you would like to forget and you scratch your head wondering why that version even came out..

It seems like everything we watch or hear today there always has to be some kind of poll tagged with "Mt Rushmore" whether its for athletes, vacation spots, etc it is very easy to get in any debate as far as who or what is the greatest thing of all time. This brings me to what this blog is all about. What is your "Mt Rushmore" for Madden games? I will share my 4 and why they're awesome to me starting from 4 through 1.

4. Madden 95:My cousin had a Sega Genesis and I would beg my parents every week to spend my weekends with him. We loved football and especially any football video game that was out at the time. I believe if I remember right that this was the first time the Carolina Panthers and Jacksonville Jaguars were introduced in the game. They had a really good Team OVR that kind of cracks me up today knowing what those franchises were like during the 90's. After our Little League Football games on Saturdays we'd battle it out. We were very competitive and either one of us couldn't stand to lose a game. I don't know what it was about that game but it was very fun! The old theme song rings in my head with the legends John Madden and Pat Summerall commenting on what was happening in the game. A lot of the things they said were hilarious but it was innovative at the time because of the technology present. I always felt too that sports games on the Sega Genesis were better than the games on the Super Nintendo, I can't really figure out why, that's just how I felt. I miss those days of going to school, playing Little League Football, and battling with my cousin as to who the better Madden 95 gamer was! Priceless moments that I miss, will never forget, and unfortunately will never get back.

3. Madden 06:The controversial QB Vision Cone! Lol I enjoyed it and I thought it presented a challenge. I'm not sure a lot of other people felt the same. The thing about Madden 06 was this came out after one of the best if not the best Madden game of all time (IMO). I was going into my Sophomore year in college, I had no money, or no gaming system at the time. My cousins had a PS3 and I remember at the time seeing a Madden Tournament post at the old Hollywood Video in So Cal. The winner would win a copy of the new Madden coming out which was Madden 06. I thought, "what's the worst that could happen?" I ended up sneaking out from my cousin's place that night and made it to Hollywood Video for the tournament. The first couple of games I felt I was very lucky because I should've lost. But I kept winning and I made it to the finals but what we didn't expect was that we'd have to battle it out in the Championship game playing with the new Madden 06! The guy and I at the time looked calm on the outside but were probably cussing like crazy on the inside! Lol The QB Vision Cones were killing us and it was very hard at first to adjust to the game but the game to me felt awesome. The graphics looked good, gameplay was on point, and I was winning! I ended up winning because I stuck to the run game rather than mess with the QB Cone/passing game. I couldn't believe that I'd won and my cousins couldn't either! Especially because they used to beat on me like crazy in Madden! I got better as the years went on and had my "Empire Strikes Back" moment in 2010 with Madden 09! Lol

2. Madden 03:I had graduated High School, my football plans were kind of messed up at the time because of the coaches that recruited me, and so I had plenty of free time if I wasn't working. Marshall Faulk on Madden 03, man that game was awesome! EA Trax was big as always back then (the Soundtrack is playing in my head as I type this..) the mini game modes that was in Madden at the time were very fun and helpful! The way it looked and felt made me love that game! There really isn't anything else on this except the fact that this to me was on of my favorite Madden games!

1. Madden 05:HIT STICK changed the game and hasn't gone away since. A lot of features come and go but this was here to stay for good! My teammates and I would always battle it out on Madden 05. Everyone thought they were the Madden god and it was the same thing at home with my cousins. There were so many innovative features on the game whether it was gameplay, Franchise, list goes on of things that I love and miss about the old Madden games. It was simple, devs at the time were focused on their old slogan, "EA Sports, it's in the game!" At the time there were a lot of things that we'd see on Sundays or Mondays that was installed in Madden 05. I miss that and the times of gaming against my family and teammates..

These are my 4, what are yours? Madden 15 is looking to change the game on Next Gen, we will see.. To be honest, I haven't been excited for a Madden release in a long time like I am for this one. It's probably because there wasn't a NCAA game to keep me busy this year but with everything I've seen although it won't be perfect, it'll definitely satisfy my huge FOOTBALL APPETITE for this upcoming season.
