The Cincinnati Reds have opened up a nice lead of six games over the St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Central as of the morning of September 9th. Colorado has used their home field advantage to make the Reds look vulnerable, putting on a usual stretch run, and keeping the Reds from further distancing themselves from the struggling Cards. Colorado is trying to catch up with the fading Padres and the steady Giants, so they have motivation. Cincinnati, however, seems to be auditioning starting pitching ... Read More

I've seen the future of baseball, and it's name is Aroldis Chapman. A Cuban defector. An international competitor. From free agent signee to Triple-A prodigy. In Aroldis Chapman's one inning of work, his major league debut in Cincinnati, seven of his eight pitches were strikes. Three of his pitches reached or went over 100 mph on the Great American Ballpark speed gun. The result of the 1-2-3 inning against the Brewers was a strikeout, a groundout to second, and a groundout to short.

The Reds blew a golden opportunity to extend their lead over St. Louis. After baiting the Cards with a few comments, triggering a brawl, the Reds ended up a game behind in the NL Central. Joey Votto got some national attention for his Cub hating comments, later described as a joke, but Brandon Phillips seemed dead serious about his hatred of the Redbirds. The media jumped all over this one. Although the divisional races are tight, and the Wild Card races are even tighter, this is the time of ... Read More

Falling behind by 1.5 games may not seem like much, the Cincinnati Reds cannot afford to drop off much further. Scott Rolen is day-to-day with a hamstring injury. Ramon Hernandez was on the DL after hurting himself, legging out a triple on July 4. Hernandez returned to the lineup, and started at 1B today. Aaron Harang seemed to have overcome early season struggles, only to find himself on the DL with back trouble.

Losing out in the Cliff Lee trade sweepstakes was a missed opportunity

Towards the end of this article by veteran Chicago baseball reporter Bruce Levine is a rather inflammatory quote from Reds first baseman Joey Votto.
http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/cubs...with-bat-glove

Free agency and excessive player movement has made fraternization between opposing players fairly common. On one side you want to see some sportsmanship. But onlookers from the old school frown on too much friendly interaction. They view the opponent

A week ago, I was satisfied. The Cincinnati Reds had crushed the Chicago Cubs. They posted a big crooked number that earned reliever Jeff Stevens a trip to AAA Iowa, and left the Wrigley Field faithful muttering about slaughter rules as they headed for the exits. Cubs fans turned on Stevens with such severity, boos after hits, jeers when the struggling rookie threw a strike, I wonder if he needs to see Carlos Zambrano's therapist.

When Cincinnati beats Chicago it is a victory

Being cheap will keep me from taking part in the release day frenzy that will follow NCAA Football 11. My own review, if I get around to writing one, will be up on this blog, by the end of the month, if ever. Reviews help. Good people write them. Talented people write them. No disrespect will be shown for the reviewers, and the sites they appear on.

At first, we were fans of sports, then teams. Now we are fans of game series, and game publishers. Rather than reading a review

SBK 09 isn't exactly a masterpiece. The key to this title is the retail price: $19.99. Sure, Milestone held this game back from release in the US. Yes, SBK X has been released in Europe. While we won't see a flood of shovelware for the PS3, it is nice to find something affordable to play until the annual avalanche of titles is released by EA Sports, not to mention the holiday titles.

Instead of releasing year-old European titles dirt cheap, why not drop the standard retail price

If Steve Jobs announced an Apple version of a multimedia lava lamp, I can just imagine the reaction. One-quarter of the public would buy it, one-quarter would try to copy it, and one-half would complain about it. The pending release of the iPad caused many to do their own tech inventories, and compare what they own to the tech specs of the new device. Search the internet and you will find a multitude of wish lists, lists of what the iPad lacks, what competitors

Digital Dilemma
By LucianoJJ

The latest rumor rippling through the console gaming world, as reported by The New York Times, is the potential of ESPN programming being made available to Xbox Live subscribers. Since the media outlets now respect the power of the consoles beyond gaming, given their web browsers, their use for streaming video, for movie rentals, and other uses, consoles now figure to be a factor in the changing digital distribution landscape. If you thought

Another NCAA Football 11 Wishlist
By LucianoJJ

I’ve played NCAA Football games on three different platforms for nearly a decade. I’ve seen the look, the sound, and the feel of the games change. I wrote a wishlist for another sports video game website last season. Consider me a transfer to Operation Sports, but I hope this wishlist is a positive contribution to the program.

Quarterbacks need added attention in EA Sports’ NCAA Football 11. QB at the major
