Why Can't There Be More Profesional Athletes Like This?
Posted on February 16, 2010 at 04:18 PM.
With the Trail Blazers ailing with front court injuries (C Greg Oden and C Joel Przybilla, both out for the remainder of the season), they go and get another big man to help them compete in the Western Conference. I myself, think this is a very good trade for Portland as they help solidify their front court and resolve the jammed back court. Portland's Head Coach, Nate McMillan, has been trying to move one of his three point guards from the beginning of the season. Also, giving those minutes to point guards Andre Miller, Jerryd Bayless, and Steve Blake; all quality rotation guards; can be quite a hassle.
Both Trail Blazers have been some the key factors off the bench for McMillan, spelling G/F Martell Webster. But with the increased play in second-year guard Jerryd Bayless, Steve Blake has had some of his minutes cut.

Most professional athletes would not necessarily be too pleased about going from a top-tired organization to an annual bottom-feeding club. With all the divas that hype up these leagues, everybody wants to showcase their talents, while competing to win a ring.
About the trade, Travis Outlaw had to say this about the trade on his Twitter page, "It doesn't bother me. This is a business. I'll just go somewhere else and play."
This makes me think. I could only wish every professional athlete could be like this. Players would suck up their pride, and play for these terrible squads. I just wish more players could realize this fact, and play for a team like the Los Angeles Clippers. In my minds, the NBA would be a much better place.

What do you want him to say? Of course he's gonna say that, If he had bitched and moaned about going to the clippers he would have been under fire by the media and especially the fans. Athletes say what's politically correct and what the fans want to hear.

I don't know about you but going out and getting beat every game can take one's love away for something real quick. For someone to simply be okay with taking something like this really states a lot about the professional himself. In this case, I understand, the guy had no say so with the trade and he's saying the right things, but if he's not hurt, angry, or upset on the inside then he's really not someone I would want on my roster. Winners want to win, losers take what's given to them.
