The Washington Redskins have extended the contract of QB Donovan McNabb for 5 years. He signed a 5-year, $78 million extension with $40 million guananteed and up to $88 million with incentives.
The Redskins traded for McNabb (from the division rival Eagles) on April 4th to become their new franchise QB.
McNabb was also benched during the 25 - 37 Loss at Detroit. This created a huge controversy among the Redskins and the NFL.
McNabb is a 6-time Pro Bowler, but is obviously struggling in the new scheme that Mike and Kyle Shanahan are trying to implement.

I was shocked to hear this news. I wasn't sure how much faith Washington had it McNabb, but apparently they still believe.
