Is the SEC the best conference in the nation. Yes. You could say the Big 12 is the better conference, you could say it has the better Quaterbacks but technically it's a world away.
Offensive speed, Defensive speed, speed kills.
The coaching is NFL like, Nick Saban has turned an Alabama team that had not experienced success like this in along time. Wins against Clemson on neutral field, Georgia in a blowout and LSU in a rowdy enviroment. If Alabama win the National Championship college football fans should respect the fact that Alabama's schedule could have halted any team's dream of a title.
It's not just on the field that Saban has effect. He is a genius when it comes to recruiting, having a huge impact on any young high school player. Success has not changed him. His work ethnic, passion and brutal practices has kept his Tide side on course. A course they were not suppose to be on.
Urban Meyer guided Florida to a National Title just two years ago, blowing out one of the best Ohio State teams ever. With an average quaterback. Tebow has led the Gators back into contention, with their high ocane, high scoring offense not many teams will be able to outscore Florida.
Yeah, they did lose at the swamp. So what. They beat LSU and Georgia, and neither of those games were at home. A Heisman candidate also calls Florida his home, it's not the guy you think.
Percy Harvin. Nobody has given this kid respect, well if you do that prepare to be burned. Whether he's running the ball, catching the ball - watch out.
The conference has had a down year. Georgia and LSU have not had great years, Tennessee are still rebuilding and Arkansas are hapless. But on any given saturday these teams will still push any school all the way. They will prove it come Bowl season.
So the winner of the SEC Championship game will go to the big game, can anybody keep pace with these two - maybe.
I respect the Big 12, Big Ten, Pac 10, ACC and Big East. and all other conferences big or small across the nation. Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Penn State, USC, and Utah have all had great years.
But by 2009 the SEC may have a third National Champion in as many years. Why? you may have missed it. It was that fast.

Trust me big man....the SEC is not faster than every league out there. The best teams certainly looked that way against the Big 10, but every school has guys that can fly. The whole "this conference is faster than that conference" is the worst argument ever in football.

MMChris I totally respect your opinion, and I know that their are guys that can fly across the nation. However, when it comes to the big games, the SEC tends to step up a gear or two or three.
