Madden 15 First impressions, It's the little things........
Posted on August 24, 2014 at 09:23 AM.
After 8 games on all pro, a brief trial of the skills trainer and an online game , here are my initial impressions of the game.
Graphics .
A much better effort coming out of EA Tiburon this year. New player models look great. Tom Brady looks like a lanky skinny kid rather than a linebacker, lighting in the stadiums is markedly better. I played a game at Heinz Field in the afternoon ,as weather changed and the afternoon progressed the skybox changed different shades of colour and the field almost became aerie. Uniforms look more defined and realistic. Basically 10 times more polished.

Commentary.
No need to go into this aspect too much, commentary was very stale. A lot of lines used from last year but it's only a small gripe of mine.

Gameplay.
This is where they took the ball and ran with it. Pun intended. In past iterations of Madden I have always been a run first type of player. screens, stretches and smashing holes through the defensive lines is how I play madden. So far all that has changed this year. The run game is far more difficult to execute this year. My so called money runs were shut down for losses, screens were getting broken in the back field more times than not, and my stretches only seemed to work on the goaline. Once it's released I need to spend some time getting acquainted with the new system. So what's the pay off? The passing game seems to be way easier now. On average on all Pro last year I would be lucky to scratch near 100 yards. In all the games I got toplay I was averaging between 250 to 300 yards per game. Then I played 2 games using Payton and Brady. With Manning I went 410 with 68% completion and miraculously Brady got me 505 with a 75% completion rating. Elite qbs feel like they should and relievers are finally catching passes that they should.
Defence mechanics and the the new pass rush mini game is fun. Defensive spacing and awareness seems much more intuitive go example safeties and corners react much quicker to screens in the flat, but I will save that for a latter blog after launch
It's the little things that make this game stand out over previous years. I was even called for a semi late hit on a running back who just went out of bounds.the new halftime show is pretty good as well.

That's it for now on my initial impressions, I will write up a more defensive focused article after release. Once I have freaked learned how to run again........
