The Pirates have promoted their #3 ranked prospect, SS Alen Hanson, to Triple-A Indianapolis.



With six games under his belt in his MLB career, C Tony Sanchez struggled mightily at the plate. With the offensive struggles, the Pirates have optioned Sanchez to Triple-A Indianapolis.



The Pirates have announced the signing of 2B Ryan Theriot to a minor league contract. Theriot has been assigned to Triple-A Indianapolis.







With Tony Sanchez being optioned back down to Triple-A, the Pirates have recalled C Michael McKenry.



Since being acquired in the Asdrubal Cabrera trade, 1B Matt LaPorta has been tearing it up in Triple-A. Looking to bring his offensive upbeat, the Pirates have recalled LaPorta to the big league club.



The Pirates have announced that they have designated for assignment 3B Brandon Inge. Inge has had some bright spots during the season, but minimal playing time and recent struggles have called for his release. Inge's release opened up a spot on the 40-man roster for Matt LaPorta.
