ANAHEIM -After losing game one of the series, the Pirates looked to rebound in game two, as Francisco Liriano takes the mound to oppose Jered Weaver.

Liriano then did the unthinkable, getting both Josh Hamilton and Albert Pujols to strike out swinging, followed by a groundout by Trumbo to end the inning.

In the top of the 2nd, Pedro Alvarez led off with a single. After Russell Martin struck out, Gaby Sanchez singled to put two on with one out. But Felix Pie would ground into a 1-6-3 double play to end the threat. The bottom of the 2nd quickly flew by, as Liriano struck out Jimenez, Iannetta, and Bourjos in order. After a single from Kendrick with two outs in the bottom of the 3rd, Liriano got Pujols to strike out for the second time in the game to end the 3rd.

In the top of the 4th, Asdrubal Cabrera line to left for a single to lead off the inning. After McCutchen struck out swinging, Cabrera was caught stealing second, leading into a Pedro Alvarez strike out to end the top of the 4th. After a quick top of the 5th from Weaver, Aybar led off the botom of the 5th with a single. Kendrick then reached on a fielders choice, with Aybar out at second. Josh Hamilton then reached on a fielders choice, getting Kendrick out at second. Albert Pujols then doubled, sending Hamiliton to third, leaving two men in scoring position with two outs.

Liriano would get Trumbo to strike out to end the bottom of the 5th. Both Liriano and Weaver soared through the 6th inning, retiring the sides in order. In the top of the 7th, Weaver hit Alvarez with two outs, followed by a single from Russell Martin to again put two on with two outs. Jered Weaver didn't back down, getting Gaby Sanchez to pop out to end the Pirates half of the 7th. In the bottom of the 7th, after an Aybar one out single, Kendrick doubled to deep left, scoring Aybar, to give the Angels a 1-0 lead.

Duke Welker was called upon to get Liriano out of the jam. Welker would get Hamilton to ground out and Pujols to strike out to end the inning. After a scoreless 8th, the Pirates were down to their final three outs. Starling Marte got the Pirates going, leading off with a triple. After a sharp infield ground out from Cabrera, Andrew McCutchen reached first on a fielders choice, as Starling Marte was called out at home.

Pedro Alvarez then singled, advancing McCutchen to second with two outs. But closer Ryan Madson would get Russell Martin to strike out swinging to end the game.
