The Pittsburgh Pirates are 15 games into Spring Training, with a 6-10 record. The record includes a 10-0 drubbing of Spain's World Baseball Classic (WBC) team.
With Spring Training nearly halfway through, position battles are starting to heat up. As of now, there are a few positions that are locked up:
C - Russell Martin
2B - Neil Walker
SS - Clint Barmes
3B - Pedro Alvarez
LF - Starling Marte
CF - Andrew McCutchen
The pitching staff also has some locks:
Rotation
SP - A.J. Burnett
SP - Wandy Rodriguez
SP - James McDonald
Bullpen
RP - Tony Watson
RP - Mark Melancon
RP - Jared Hughes
CL - Jason Grilli
The Pirates have announced that cuts will begin on Wednesday.
