Week 1 vs Broncos- 83 approval

1-0) Broncos 26 at (0-1) Raiders 3

First off, let me say that this game was MUCH closer than the score. My D held them to 4 FGs. deangelo fumbled a PR that led to a TD, and alex brink threw a pick6 late in the 4th. i put him in because jemarcus was playing horribly, and i mean horribly.

-things started off well when calais campbell had an early pressure that led to a pick by fowler. i got a FG this drive.

-at halftime, i was down 10-3. tommy kelley got hurt soon in the 3rd, and my run D went all downhill from there

-Howard my OLB got a sack from a nice goal line stand. 2nd and 1 he sacked cutler for a 5 yard loss. then 3rd and goal from the 6 campbell gets the sack

-dumervil in his return to denver gets a sack on the first play of the game

-mendenhall was solid but not spectacular. i may need to go RB again in the first to have a 1-2 punch. jones is a servicable backup for now

-jordan gross went down, and his backup, training camp rookie N Wilkes, gave up 2 sacks to QB brink at the end. however this was because he was holding on for to long

Raiders
Russell 4/18 38 yards-his passes were missing by a good 5-10 yards
Brink 3/6 38 yards and an INT-his INT was juggled by zach miller, who got nailed by lynch. all of his passes were near the target

Mendenhall 14 carries 73 yards
Julius Jones 8 carries 32 yards

Dre Moore tackle/TFL/sack
calais campbell 4 tackles/TFL/sack/deflection
elvis dumervil tackle/TFL/sack
thomas howard 10 tackles/2TFL/sack/3 deflections
Fowler tackle/int

team-360 total yards, 34:47 TOP

Broncos
Cutler 10/20 146 yards INT

shaun alexander 18 carries 87 yards-he got most of these after kelley left with an injury

graham-2 catches 35 yds
arman shields 2 catches 18 yards

tim crowder-4 tackles/2TFL/2sacks
omar gaither: 4tackles/ TFL/ sack

total yards:291
TOP:25:11

i think i, for the most part, outplayed them. take away the fumble and INT td and its a close game. my approval dropped to a 61, but i think i can rebound with a game against the chiefs next.

scouted mid-round DTs again

Week 2 vs Chiefs- 61 approval
(0-2) Raiders at (1-1) Chiefs
Raiders 13-Chiefs 15

For the most part, I contained Larry Johnson, but Damon Huard was killing DeAngelo Hall, with Jerry Porter having 150 of Huard's 215 yards. My running game was amazing, and JaMarcus played slightly below average.

-tommy blake missed a sack by a split second, and the miss led to a game winning gonzalez TD catch as time ran out. huard actually got injured on the play

-i had a clutch sack on 3rd down when they were in FG range by dumervil while they were driving in the 2min warning in the 2nd quarter. the sack took them out of FG range, and after the punt, i drove down for a TD to give me a 7-3 halftime lead.

-my run D is either a hit or miss type thing. both games, the opponent either busts out a 10 yard rush or gets stuffed for -2. mine, on the other hand, is more consistent. i have one rush of over 20 yards this season, and they keep on churning 5-8 yards every rush

-looking ahead to next year, I would say QB is my main need, but i already have a huge salary in russel, and brink has a high potential, so i might start him later in the year to see how he does. also a young WR, since Douglas is good, but givens and curry are satisfactory. Also a young, cheap CB to complement fabian washington. Other than that i really think the team is set for the most part, since we've played it close in every game.

QB
Jamarcus Russel-9/18 for 131 yards, TD and INT

RB
Rashard Mendenhall-10 carries for 56 yards
Julius Jones- 8 carries for 37 yards
Mike Bush- 8 carries for 65 yards, TD

WR/TE
Harry Douglas-3 receptions for 66 yards
Zach Miller- 2 catches for 20 yards, TD

Defense
LB Kirk Morrison-9 tackles
LB Thomas Howard-8 tackles, 3 TFL
FS Horton-3 tackles, INT
DE Blake, DE Dumervil, DE campbell, DT Leslie-1 sack each

Chiefs
Damon Huard-18-25 215 yards TD/INT
Larry Johnson-19 carries for 65 yards
Kolby Smith-5 carries for 17 yards
Darren Howard-6 tackles, 1 sack, TFL
Jarrad Page- 8 tackles, INT

i scouted mid round DTs again, and i have them at 100%. theres this one DT from central michigan(PLEASE NO SPOILERS) who has a 90 right now, who im interested in.

Also, after this game, I upgraded to HB Intangibles Level 4. Once I hit 10,000 points I'm gonna upgrade it to level 5, and then focus on Offensive Line intangibles

Week 3 vs Bills- 74 approval

(1-2) Raiders at (1-2) Bills
Raiders 21-Bills 16

Great win, it was close until the end when thomas howard picked one off and ran it to the 1. I was able to kneel the ball 3 straight downs and win. Once again, JaMarcus didnt play well, but he didnt harm the team. he did get sacked three times though, because he waited too long, and he didnt scramble or throw it away but just stood there. my dline got no sacks, and had almost no chance to get pressure since edwards would throw it within 3 seconds. all of his passes were within 5-10 yards, but his recievers had a ton of YAC because of sloppy tackling from my secondary. they also used a ton of 2 TE sets, so i had 4 linemen rushing 7 blockers plus the running back. i had over 200 rushing yards for the first time this season. my FB sowell and my RB jones were injured during the game.

Opening drive, I took 12 minutes to march down the field, and julius jones punched it in for a TD. however, this is when jones got hurt. so i had to play the rest of the game with mike bush and mendenhall. bush blew out in this game, having 2 outstanding games in a row, after a mediocre 1st game agains the broncos
stacy andrews was out for the 1st half with a stinger, so mike mcglynn subbed in for him. he allowed no sacks and was pretty decent in run blocking, pancacking john mcargo a few times.

of russel's 6 completions, 5 went to TE zach miller on PA passes, and 1 went to david givens on a 3rd down PA bomb. it seems that he cant complete a pass unless its a swing to the back, a short TE route, or a playaction.

also, one really helpful thing that i found, was on 3rd and long situations, when i put 4 DE's on the dline(RE campbell, RDT burgess, LDT blake, LE dumervil), and quick subbed OLB fowler with DE jarvis moss(edited the play to have moss blitz-i have no blitzes in my playbook), those 5 would really pressure edwards and hed get hit as he threw it every time.

JaMarcus Russell- 6/15 for 81 yards and a TD
Rashard Mendenhall- 16 carries for 98 yards and a TD
Mike Bush- 12 carries for 61 yards
Julius Jones- 7 carries for 40 yards and a TD
Zach Miller- 5 receptions for 54 yards and a TD
Thomas Howard- 11 tackles, INT
Kirk Morrison- 9 tackles

BILLS
Trent Edwards-21/30 for 240 yards and 2TD/INT
Marshawn Lynch-13 carries for 57 yards
K.Williams-5 tackles, 4 TFL, 2 sacks
A. Schoebel- 7 tackles, 2 TFL, sack

scouted big school HBs, have them at 40% done right now.

Week 4 vs Chargers- 92 approval
(3-1) Chargers 23 at (1-3) Raiders 7

I got killed, and consider myself lucky for making the game this close. I got sacked 12 times, and every single one of them was a coverage sack. I'm benching Russell now and starting the rookie Brink. I have a bye week before the game against the saints so ill focus on bringing up his knowlege. Kirk Morrison got hurt durign the game, and his backup, training camp rookie kirk carson, played excellent. I'll try him out later in the year, and if he's good i probably wont resign morrison when his contract expires(2 years i think)

Russell 6/15 98 yards
Mendenhall 20/79 TD
Howard 10 tackles, 2 TFL
Leslie 2 tackles, 2 TFL, sack

Rivers 12/22 228 yards TD
LT 31/110 TD
Merriman 10 tackles, 3 TFL, 4 sacks
Jamaal Willias 8 tackles, 2 TFL, sack
olshanksky, rubin, dyson, phillips, cooper, and siler got a sack each
