Every year, I tell myself that I'm going to be more focused. Instead of buying practically every title out there, I always go into the fall release season determined to buy only one or two of the best titles from a few of my favorite sports and really concentrate on those.

I don't know how Bill and Cindy Van Gundy raised their boys, but clearly they did something right. Their oldest boy, Stan, has taken (and continues to take) his fair share of criticism and ridicule from just about all corners, including his unceremonious dumping in Miami, questions about his coaching ability and even snide comments about his resemblance to Ron Jeremy and Paul Bearer. Hell, even I took a cheap shot at him in my NBA Live 09 Finals Simulation.

One thing I have never liked about sports games is the player ratings. My problem is not so much with the ratings themselves, but with the fact that I can see them.
In almost every single big-name sports sim released over the past 20 years, we as gamers have been able to quantify, often on a 100-point scale, exactly how good each individual player is in a myriad of categories.
