The Charlotte Bobcats...oops, I'm sorry... the Charlotte HORNETS. How to fix them.
Posted on May 19, 2013 at 05:56 PM.
Well as most of you now know, the Charlotte Bobcats have begun the process to become the Charlotte Hornets. I would say again, but this franchise was never known as the Hornets to begin with. It's a great time for my beloved city, and by the time they change the name, colors, and jerseys, the team may not look as dire as it does now. The Hornets name coming back to Charlotte is just the start of the good things to come in the Queen City.

First off, they have good, young talent to develop and when you're rebuilding, that's what you need most, to build your team from the draft, and when those players develop, go out and try to hire some of the big guns (superstars). Kemba Walker is going to be a stud in the NBA, contrary to what people may think, he does know how to pass the ball, but right now, he is the best scorer out on the floor for them, so he has to force it. Gerald Henderson is a respectable NBA starter and should continue to develop. And while MKG and Biyombo have a long way to go in improving their offense, they do have the potential and ability to take enormous strides in the near future. Remember, they are both only 20 years old.

Now, the Hornets (I'm just going to refer to them as this now because I am very excited about it) may not select any franchise changers this year, but they will find themselves a decent player. I'm thinking Alex Len would be a perfect pick for them. BUT, in the 2014 draft, they have the possibility of having not 1, not 2, but THREE lottery picks. They will more than likely have one of the worst records again next year, and that's okay, because they could end up with a top 3 pick, a top 7, and a top 12. So they will more than likely land Jabari Parker, Marcus Smart, or Andrew Wiggins, either of which they would be ecstatic to have (mostly Wiggins, though).

Now, if that weren't enough, they will also have money available to land a max contract player, possibly two.

NOW add on the fact that Michael Jordan is desperately trying to get Phil Jackson involved, rumors have it that Jordan has offered a piece of ownership and complete control of basketball operations. I also think that the summer of 2014 is the same year LeBron is a free-agent again. I'm not saying he will take his talents to the Queen City, but if anybody could bring him here, it would be Michael Jordan, Phil Jackson, and the return of the purple and teal.

So, while people may laugh at my Bobcats/Hornets for now, we will have our time to shine, and it may come sooner than most of you may think.

Welcome back, Hugo! You're finally back home. Go Hornets!
