2K12 Controls
Posted on December 18, 2011 at 12:20 PM.
Is 2K12 aware that their controls don't do what they're supposed to do a lot of the times?

Going up for a dunk, point the shot stick right of the basket is supposed to be rim hang, to the basket is signature, left is hop step, and away is reverse.

I'm in practice mode with Gerald Henderson (I gave him Evan Turner's dunk package). I point to the right of basket he did a reverse. I point away from basket he does what I think is a simply stupid looking reverse dunk. I point to the basket and sometimes he does a reverse, sometimes he does the sig. The only time the control does exactly what I say is on the hop step dunk (which is something that is impossible to do in a game apparently...)

So then I tried reverse layups. Going from the right baseline and laying up on the left side works fine. However, if I try the EXACT same thing from the left baseline he will NEVER do a reverse. Same thing with reverse dunks. He will do them from the right baseline and dunk of the left but he won't go the other way.

There are other times in a game where I press Y to jump up to contest but my guy will sit in a CANNED ANIMATION, like he's trying to draw a charge and get dunked on.

And is it just me, or is it time to get rid of the player automatically changing dribbling hands? I should decide when I want to crossover. And the escape dribbles this year, I swear to God, is like watching a mini-movie.

Anybody else find this highly annoying?

PS. On a side note, why does everyone shoot sideways this year? Like if they're right-handed (on a set shot) their right foot is always way in front of their left and it's almost like they turn their bodies when they jump up to shoot. Most NBA players I have seen are squared to the basket when they shoot, not turned.

Except for the fact that there is TOO much momentum in 2K12 and the CPU can stop on a dime, they can dislocated their shoulder and block with the back side of their hand, they can unnaturally speed up and get to top speed on their first step, I could go on and on... This game is not as good as advertised and if you think otherwise, you're probably a casual basketball player/gamer or a fanboy.

And basketball DOES have a lot of stopping on a dime as opposed to some other sports.

On a side note regarding fouls, why are the animations with a TON of contact never called fouls and then when you don't even touch somebody it is called a foul, just because you pressed the Y button?
