What We Learned From Rivalry Week
Posted on December 1, 2013 at 02:01 PM.

Rivalry Week is the final week of the regular season in college football, and it is filled with all the classic rivalries in college football. Games like Michigan vs. Ohio State, Florida vs. FSU, and Auburn vs. Alabama are played on rivalry week. All college football fans are hoping for a day of exciting plays, heated contests, and emotional upsets.

It's safe to say that this year, rivalry week did not disappoint.

Well we learned that Auburn can't be taken lightly as we approach bowl season. This year's Iron Bowl might have been the most exciting Iron Bowl of all time, as it was back and forth the entire 60 minutes of play (well at least 59 minutes, 59 seconds). Then in that final second, that was put back on the clock after several minutes of review, the unthinkable happened as Alabama missed a game-winning FG and Auburn returned it 100+ yards for the game-winning TD.

After OSU vs Michigan we now know that it's better to go for the tie instead of the win, as Michigan scored a last-minute TD against Ohio State to pull within one point, and then Brady Hoke shockingly went for the win and did not get it, allowing OSU to kill the clock and continue their impressive win streak.

The OSU-Michigan game may have been the most fascinating game of the day as a major fight broke out (which is what everyone secretly kind of wants to see in a rivalry). Three players were ejected, and one of them was not too happy about it. OSU player Marcus Hall lost his cool and flipped off the Michigan fans as he walked into the tunnel. You stay classy, Ohio State.

The most amusing thing we learned during rivalry week is that Florida players are very good at blocking... but just not the right people. For the 2nd time this season, two Florida players blocked each other, instead of their opponents. It's not hard to believe that this was an easy win for Florida State.

Both Michigan and Alabama taught us that maybe you should ALWAYS play for overtime, instead of the last second heroic win, and Florida basically summed up their entire season by blocking themselves twice in one year. Well after rivalry week we are on to conference championship week, which promises to be a very exciting week of football as the best two teams from every conference will be playing. Unfortunately that means that we will not see Florida block themselves again.

Nice summation. And good call on playing for OT. If my Spartans knock off OSU, Mizzou bets Auburn, Duke stuns FSU now what?

Well that's definitely possible, and I think that would put MSU and Mizzou in the National Championship

No chance. If Duke and MSU win then that puts Mizzou and Bama in the Title game. Don't get me wrong I loved Bama losing cause I hate Saban
( I'm a Michigan Fan ) but they deserve to be in the title game if OSU and FSU lose. I'm pulling for MSU to pull the Upset but definitely not Duke cause I love the Noles. My dream Scenario would have been FSU vs BAMA for all the marbles but sadly we won't see that so all I hope for Is Auburn VS FSU. I still think that with that cloud of suspicion hanging over Winston's head especially if he is charged and Auburn being on a roll, plus ( As much as I hate to say it lol ) MSU's great defense and OSU's poor showing, I say we will be having a rematch of the IRON Bowl for the FINAL BCS Title between BAMA and Auburn..... As it should be

As a Bama fan I am very hopeful that they can find a way back into it but I think that no matter what happens if the Tide make it into the title game there will be a riot from a large majority of the country about how the BCS just loves the SEC. The only reason I thought MSU would be in is because they might beat an undefeated team while Alabama lost to a 1-loss team.
