Optimism for Wizards Still Running High

Although I'm currently saddled w/ the 2nd worst record in the league through 24 games @ 9-15 I'm only 8.5 games back in the East.

I've got Gilbert coming back by early/mid January, and with him back in the lineup that will open up a whole new game for me.

Having Caron Butler out for my last 5 games has actually helped me offensively.

I was struggling to score in my first 4 games w/ the Wizards, and looking too often to Caron for offense. With him out I had to rely heavily on Stevenson, Jamison, and Nick Young - this has greatly strengthend my game with these 3 and anytime Caron or Gilbert are cold I have the utmost confidence in looking for offense from these guys...heck I might even be more efficient with them after it is all said and done.

DeShawn Stevenson is an absolute beast. He's a very streaky shooter, but once you get him going he's a gunner. At anytime I feel I can knock down a 3 with him, and he's quick and a plus perimeter defender...he's quickly becoming my favorite player to use in this Wizards offense.

Jamison has been outstanding in the last 7 games I've played.

Outside of the 39 and 43 point games I had w/ DeShawn Stevenson (both vs. Philly), Jamison has been my most consistent scorer averaging 27.5 points over his last 7 games.

His play around the basket in NBA 2K9 mimics his real-life play almost to a 'T'... I've been making all of those circus shots/layups he is known for, I've had a lot of consistency with his 3, and rarely miss w/ him from mid-range.

Jamison's Scoring Over His Last 7:

With Caron out Dominic McGuire has started at SF the last 4 games, and I'm loving his game...I maybe get 4 points w/ him a game...if that, but he hustles for me and has played great D. I've reached double digit rebounds w/ him over the last 5 games 3 times with his lowest total being 7, and he's usually come up w/ a couple blocks and a couple steals. His biggest contribuition has been on the offensive glass where he's gotten me 3-4 offensive rebounds a game!

Last but not least...Javale McGee...Beast! This guy is ALL OVER the offensive glass, and is just a standing dunk monster! I've also had much succes in blocking shots w/ him too. He was a huge reason why I was able to make a game out of my loss to Boston w/ him grabbing 16 rebounds and scoring 21 points.

Half of Javale's 16 boards in that one were offensive rebounds. This guy is my center of the future. I actually see him starting even w/ a healthy Brendan Haywood since he brings a ferocious energy in the paint. Sooo...that means I'll be moving Etan Thomas and his hefty contract in the offseason.

Caron should be back w/in the next couple of days at which point Pecherov moves back to the IR.

Caron will be coming back to a completely different team though. With me being able to fire at all cylinders w/ Stevenson, and being able to dominate w/ Jamison, it should open up a lot more opportunities for Caron's game.

The future is looking great.
