The Wizards - An NBA 2K9 Association - Character Commitment Connection

Association day: 12/19/2008

Eddie Jordan has been fired after a subpar record 16 gms in (6-10), and that embarrassing home loss blow-out to the Lakers 124-100 to go to 6-11.

Interim coach Alexander Gooden takes over to finish the season.

His ratings:

Offense = F
Defense = C
Teacher = F
Potential = B

I basically couldn't hire a better coach due to budget restraints, and Gordon was the 'best' available since I could only spend the $1mil minimum on an interim HC.

Since my 1st played game as the Wizards I've played 7 more games and over those games I'm 3-4 & currently riding a 2 gm win-streak:

L -- WAS 91 - CHI 115
L -- DET 115 - WAS 109
L -- BOS 106 - WAS 104
W -- WAS 108 - PHI 104
L -- IND 121 - WAS 96
W -- WAS 111 - DET 84
W -- PHI 92 - WAS 111

The away game in Chicago was close throughout the 1st half, but my offense couldn't keep up w/ Chicago in the 2nd half - who after finishing the 1st half shooting 42% (2% points less than me), finished the game shooting 53%.

There would be too much Derrick Rose in this one too....

Rose scored 25 1st half pts, and was the main reason why the Bulls were in the game thru the 1st half. We just did not have an answer for him in this one as he would zoom by any defender guarding him for a lay-up or dunk; Dee Brown got the start in this one, but was soon benched due to his sub-par defense of Rose.

Rose would finish with 40, as A.D. did a slightly better job guarding him in the 2nd half.

The Detroit game got slightly close at the end, but they lead me by 20 or so for most of it - Caron Butler would go down in this one w/ a strained abdominal OUT 1-2 weeks.

The game @ hm against Boston was my first where I actually played w/ the lead, and had a chance to win. With 6.6 seconds left in reg. I tried a 3 w/ Stevenson for the W, but it was in and out and would push my losing streak to 4 games to a dismal 6-14.

Ironically my first win game in Philly. I got out to a BIG early lead, and was able to maintain it through the first half. In the 3rd qtr Philly chipped away, and in the 4th made a strong push to try and re-take the lead but by that time it would be too late...

There would be TOO MUCH DeShawn Stevenson in this one.

Stevenson lit up Philly for a CAREER HIGH 43 points!
BOX: 43 pts (17-36FG; 6-18 3pt; 3-3FT), 5 AST, & 4 STL in 43 minutes of action.

Riding our 1st victory, and having discovered so much offensive potential in Stevenson I was confident and excited for the next game @ hm vs Indy. However, too many earl turnovers coupled w/ Indy's perimeter/long range shooting was too much. There was a couple of times throughout the game where I had busted a 21 or 22 pt lead down to 11, but then the offense - almost on cue everytime - would go stale and quiet and Indy would jump back out to a 20 pt lead. This was a disappointing loss.

Not feeling much confidence after another blow-out loss and heading into Detroit - a team that had just crushed me - I was expecting to lose, but still played hard and my commitment paid off in a HUGE road win against the Pistons. A.I. went cold and went 3-17 from the field, and Javale McGee was all over 'Sheed this time around - who would be Detroit's leading scorer, but didn't have a very good night shooting % wise.

Since I had beaten Philly for my 1st win my confidence was riding high to extend the winning streak to 2 games, and sure enough I got out to an early lead, which continued to climb throughout the game. I was leading by as much as 27 during this one, and there would be no late game push by Philly as I proceeded to beat them by 19.

DeShawn Stevenson has Philadelphia's number this year, and they have NO AWNSER for him at all.

He had another HUGE game against Philly scoring 39 (4 less than the last meeting) and shot even better from the field: 13-26FG; 5-9 3pt; 8-10FT w/ 3 REB, 6 AST, and a steal in 34 minutes.
