11-15-08 (v1.0)

From my last blog entry... We had just defeated, actually demolished, the Jazz.

Today I decided to finish this West roadie by playing the last 3 gms of it against LAC, DAL, and SAS.

I would finish 2-1 beating LAC and DAL and losing a tough one against the Spurs. Damn the Spurs are a tough team in this game! Parker, Ginobli, and Duncan all got off on me, but I digress.

The Clippers game wasn't anything special. They would finish the 1st qtr down by 5 (24-19), and that would pretty much seal their fate. I lead in the 1st qtr by 15 at one point, but they cut that down by 10. Wouldn't be enough though as I rebounded in the 2nd and 3rd qtr holding them to 20 pts in each one, and outscoring them 13 over those two qtrs.

Final score 111-90, Sixers win.

No spectacular performances in the Clippers game. I had the normal 4 players in double figuers: Iggy, Brand, Young, and Louis. Scoring 24, 21, 20, and 13 respectively.

The Dallas Mav's gm was awesome! I got down early, and finished the 1st qtr down by 13 (28-15). I would awaken in the 2nd qtr though scoring 34, and holding Dallas to 28 to finish the 1st half down by seven, 56-49. This one would be decided in the 4th qtr. I finished the 3rd down by 6, but exploded in the 4th scoring 39, and holding Dallas to 26.

Sixers win 114-107!

Dirk finished w/ 29 and 9, and Dallas had 4 others in double figures.

What was special about this one was the fact that I got myself in a hole, but battled the whole game to put myself in a position to win. Elton Brand also had a season high 38. Shooting 18-25 from the field, and grabbing 11 boards. He was HUGE in this one. Iggy would finish w/ 19pts (& 13 asst), Thad w/ 20, and Louis w/ 15.

This win would cost me though. Since I had to battle to get the win, I did so at the cost of my 3 stars playing BIG minutes. Iggy played 46 minutes, and both Brand and Thad 40.

Now to the Spurs gm...

Whew! First qtr was close w/ me finishing down by three, 31-28. SAS would extend that lead to 6 by halftime. Actually they would outscore me by 3 points in every qtr to win by 12, 119-107. I finished w/ 6 in double figures, but the play of Igoudala in this one was horrible. He shot 5-15 from the field.

What really did me in though was the 2nd chance pts. The Spurs had 12 of them, same number as the total they beat me by....hmmm....Because of my heavy minutes on my stars in the Mavericks game, the player who got me the most minutes was Young; only @ 34...which isn't good because I typically need Brand and Iggy in there 37 minutes a gm.

All in all, this road trip was a succes. Here's the results at a glance.

Win @ Bos 94-74
Lose @ DEN 113-100
Win @ UTH 114-78
Win @ LAC 111-90
Win @ DAL 114-107
Lose @ SAS - 119-107

I'd say finishing out this roadie 4-2 isn't bad at all.

Record 19-14.

In other news...

There was another coach firing...The T'Wolves fired their HC, Randy Wittman. I reported in a previous blog that Terry Porter was fired in my association due to the Suns horrible play. Well...I never realized it, but it was actually done on Christmas Day in my association. Ha! Merry Christmas Terry!

Well...off to the Rockets next...

Still no decision by me to strike a deal yet, but I do now know how much in cap room I would get if I don't exercise the options/resign Smith, Gelabale, Ratliff, Rush, Atkins, or Ivey.

My cap room would only be about $6mil which really doesn't get me anything better than what I could get w/ the MLE.

So w/ not being able to sign a star player in the offseason, given I don't resign the 6 guys I've mentioned above, making a trade before the deadline is a highly likely move right now.

Oh man, wish I had read this first before commenting on the other blog lol. But damn, only $6 mil you'd be getting back? Thought for sure you would get more than that back. But since, it's so low, you'd have to consider making a move before the deadline. Me personally, would wait it out a few more games before making a decision.

Pack...Yea I thought it would've been more than $6mil too, but Iggy, Brand, and Dalembert's salaries jump up. Plus I've got Reggie Evans under contract for 3 more years too at about $4.5mil plus a yr.
