Well, first off I know that a lot of people on OS are really into NCAA FOOTBALL and NFL football. Yes, the NFL is good, and I really like NCAA FOOTBALL, but for me, there is nothing better than the CFL. That's right... the Canadian Football League.
Highlights that make the CFL so unique:
3 downs
12 Players
Full motion
25 yard endzones
110 yard field
"longer, wider, faster" play
1 time out
the single point
different stoppage rules
the rouge
20 second play clock
The CFL game is offensively orientated and relies heavily on the passing game. A team down by 20 points with three minutes left ALWAYS has a chance for a comeback win. Rarely is a CFL game not exciting. All and all, it's great football. For those of you who have never seen a game, the Grey Cup is on this Sunday (the CFL Championship Game ~ Calgary vs. Montreal). I highly recommend that if you can find it on your tv, give it a quarter or so and I think you'll be impressed.
What I would love to see is the CFL make its way to a video game. EA or 2K or whoever... I would love for someone to step up. Yes, it costs a lot to make a game and yes the sales in the US would be.... well... not very impressive, but the game just like the league has so much potential.
A CFL video game would be perfect for gamers who love fast action packed, offensive orientated football who also crave the full customization aspect.
Full customization means things like:
Create teams
Create players
Build stadiums
Design uniforms
Design the fields, etc.
I know I'm dreaming big and I know if probably won't happen, but I can dream can't I????? Maybe one day...

Hey... if they made an AFL game they could make a CFL game... If the CFL funded it it could happen. Go the Lions!

I think a CFL would probably not work HOWEVER a game with CFL field dimensions and rules would be very cool. I think a developer should give it a shot.
Nice post there and it goes well with a post i'm going to make this evening about the Grey Cup.

I know the CFL has been talking about it but apparently it's a 1 million + investment... that's pretty steep! Maybe with Ottawa coming back the expansion fee can be used to pay for the game???
