NCAA FOOTBALL 2010 Endzone Art Mandatory!!!
Posted on January 6, 2009 at 12:46 AM.
Hello all and Happy New Year!

I have been meaning to write this post for awhile now. I read over and over that Endzone art for bowl games is a "small yet significant" addition that NCAA FOOTBALL 2010 ON THE NEXT GEN CONSOLES needs. Well, I must disagree with this premise. Endzone art in no way shape or form should be considered "minor." Endzone art for bowl games is a MAJOR ASPECT for the presentation and atmosphere for college football gaming. Without endzone art it doesn't feel like a genuine bowl experience.

Now some will say the ol/dl interaction is crucial, or fixing the recruiting is crucial or fixing the A.I. is crucial... and YES, all of these points are vaild BUT in the same context you must put Endzone bowl art in the discussion. Just as A.I. logic affects the gamer experience so too does a poor quality atmosphere & presentation component. Improved gameplay dynamics go hand-in-hand with presentation and atmosphere and one does need the other in order to make the NCAA FOOTBALL series truly legendary again.

With NCAA FOOTBALL 09, I can live with the poor pursuit angles, and suffer through the lack of A.I. intelligence, robo QB, and yes the complete lack of a real and sustained run game by the cpu. The game itself is still very enjoyable but what puts me over the edge is when I work all season to get to a bowl game and then I am insulted with A bland, generic and fairly empty endzone. Where is the pride in my accomplishment? Where is the bowl atmosphere? Why is the presentation so weak? Bowl endzone art goes a long way in making the experience for me.

What good is it to have an A.I. rush game and better OL/DL interaction if at the end of the season you go to a bowl game and the atmosphere is subpar? What a total let-down. We see this in Madden. As good as the gameplay is the superbowl is BORING! A.I. issues and things such as endzone art go hand in hand... you can't have one without the other.

Now let's be clear... I'm not saying Endzone art has to be the number one priority, but I am saying that for whatever gameplay improvements are made for 2010, hand-in-hand with the gameplay improvements has to be features such as bowl endzone art.

Can you image a return to the glory days (aka ps2) with bowl specific endzones, logical A.I., coaches on the field, post game celebrations, pregame warmup, formation subs, etc., etc., etc. Wow! NCAA FOOTBAll 2010 would really be a game to remember...

I approve this message. I don't know how this was ever acceptable to remove from the series.

You know, sports gaming this generation is like the years following my beloved Buffalo Bills' Super Bowl run in the early nineties. Everything was great, it was great to be a fan, never had to complain because everything was great. Jim Kelly and Andre Reed retire, Thurman Thomas goes to Miami, Bruce Smith goes to the Redskins and all of the sudden we have only made the playoffs once in the past 15 years.

Sure we had that great year with Doug Flutie, but we messed it up by putting Rob Johnson in for the only playoff game (Music City Miracle) while Flutie was the one who got us there.

JAYMO, I think we are in a dark period of sports gaming. Until these exclusivity clauses leave our sports gaming and the competition comes back, we are in for some dark days ahead of us. EA's NHL, FIFA and NBA series' are doing fine, why? Oh that's right, because they have competition.

Jkra0512.... It's been a long time since I hear Doug Fluties AND Buffalo Bills in the same sentence.... Remember FLUTIE FLAKES... classic! As to your point, I think you well may be correct.
