Lawrence Fields earned his first win as well as his first loss in his last five appearances. Though his strikeout rate remains high, Fields has struggled with the long ball, giving up two home runs in his past 3⅔ innings.
Though his ERA has spiked from 2.25 to 4.15, a string of a few solid outings should help bring it back down.
Fields will remain in the pen for now, but expect him to make his first start soon.

Cleveland Indians' top pitching prospect Lawrence Fields, 20, made his highly anticipated debut earlier this month. A future starter, Fields came out of the pen in his first five appearances, striking out six in four frames.
Thus far, he has only given up one run and recorded two holds.
Fields will likely continue coming out of the bullpen for the foreseeable future as he gets acclimated to big league hitters.
His pitch count and innings will be closely monitored as to not overwork the young hurler.

The Phillies once again return to the postseason in style. This time around, they finished 107-55 and won the NL Eastern Division by an astounding 13 games.
Now, let us take the time to honor Cre Finfrock, the 7th overall pick in the 2014 draft. He was the very first pick by GM Mike Fields. After eight seasons, we made the very tough decision not to re-sign him. Finfrock is now enjoying his career in the KBO on the Kia Tigers.
We head into the postseason in a somewhat somber mood.
Catcher Orlando Leon will be sidelined with a torn PCL and is not expected to return to action for another seven months. Also, all-star first basemen Gene Martin will miss roughly three weeks as he continues to recover from a strained PCL.
Jin-Song Zhao will take over duties at first base, while Jim Morton will replace Leon for the foreseeable future.
On the plus side, former 3rd overall pick Bobby Bennett made his much awaited MLB debut this year and performed admirably.

The Phillies started the series with a bang, thanks in part to Gene Martin's stunning offensive performance. He went 3-4 with a home run and five RBI.
Julien Renaux had a sparking outing on the mound, surrendering only one run over eight innings.
The Phillies take a 1-0 series lead, with game 2 taking place tomorrow night.

Well, it's happened. After years of ineptitude, the Phillies are seemingly back on top, having finished the 2024 regular season with a 98-64 record - the best in baseball.
Pretty much everyone in the lineup was clicking, especially the all-star caliber prospects selected by GM Mike Fields.
Matt Tola and Gene Martin came within a few home runs of hitting 40 each, and both finished with .320+ batting averages.
Orlando Leon also made great strides, perhaps finally living up to his former #1 prospect expectations.
The Phillies will take on NL Wildcard winner Atlanta. The series will begin Thursday, October 17th in Philadelphia.
Now, for the yearly statistical summary of Mike Fields' top crop of prospects:

What a difference a year makes!
For the first time in 12 years, the Phillies (93-70) finally made it back to the playoffs.
There, they made a remarkable run to the World Series, where they finally succumbed to the New York Yankees, losing two games to four.
The surprising season was made possible by the continued emergence of the Phillies' top prospects. This year, highly touted 3B Al Smith made his big league debut and didn't disappoint. He'll need to work on plate discipline during the offseason, as he only managed to draw 20 walks and finished with a sub .300 OBP.
Jose Sanchez continued his destruction of Major League pitching, finishing with a remarkable .343 batting average and 70 stolen bases.
Could next year be the year the Phillies can take the World Series crown? They certainly have the talent.
Jin-Song Zhao, the 6th overall pick of the 2021 draft, got a few at-bats at the highest level and should provide pinch hitter duties next year and be a worthy substitute in the infield.
Now, without further ado, here are the 2023 stats of all Major League players in the Phillies organization who were handpicked by GM wunderkind Mike Fields:

The Phillies finished the 2022 season at 80-82, their highest win total since 2012, when they won 81 games. Their playoff drought continued, however, and now sits at 11 years since they last made the postseason.
This year saw the breakout of young superstar-to-be Jose Sanchez. The former 2nd overall pick in 2020 burst onto the scene, batting a .298/.362/.404 slash while stealing 61 bases.
The Phillies look primed to make a serious playoff push in 2023 and bring the franchise back to prominence.

Much better defensive effort tonight. I'm happy to see we held the Heat to only 39% shooting while also forcing 20 (TWENTY!) turnovers. Also, it goes without saying that it feels great to get our first win of the season. Let's hope we can build on this performance.

Well, this was an absolutely brutal outing. Other than the fact that there was no defense being played at ALL, we allowed Chris Bosh to absolutely dominate us tonight. Perimeter defense is going to be a key focal point moving forward. Allowing a team to hit 16 three pointers is simply unacceptable.
On a positive note, Ersan Ilyasova provided a nice spark off the bench, scoring a team-high 25 points in only 15 minutes of action.

Maybe the power rankings were right. An aging Dirk Nowitzki and a hot-handed Klay Thompson combined for 54 points to put us away in the season opener.
Turnovers absolutely killed us tonight. Vince Carter shot a dismal 2-8 from the floor and accounted for five of the team's 18 turnovers. If these kinds of performances continue, we'll have to seriously consider moving Carter to the bench. His glory days are long gone, but he may still have some value as a substitute.

Well, this isn't good. This isn't good at all. I thought I drafted a decent team. But it's calculated as only a 78 overall. And in the power rankings? Dead last! We have our work cut out for us. The media, as well as the rest of the league, is making us out to be the laughing stock of the NBA. It's time to prove them wrong!

Philadelphia 76ers Depth Chart - 2014
STARTER | 2ND | 3RD | 4TH | |
PG | John Wall | Jeremy Lin | ||
SG | Vince Carter | Shaun Livingston
SF | Rudy Gay | Michael Kidd-Gilchrist | Michael Beasley
PF | Kenneth Faried | Ersan Ilyasova | Tyler Hansbrough
C | Roy Hibbert | Omar Asik |
Our team has a lot of overlapping positions, which results in a lot of depth all across the board. Livingston will be able to play the point if necessary, and Kidd-Gilchrist can shift to SG.
Vince Carter may be retiring soon (most likely after this year), so we will need to shore up the SG position either before the trade deadline or make it a priority at the 2015 draft.
Also, I'm not really sure if I trust our centers - they seem big, lumbering, and slow. Obtaining some more athletic big men should also be on our to-do list.
