INDIANS OFFENSE SPUTTERS, ANOTHER EXTRA INNINGS LOSS
Cleveland, OH (AP) - The Indians bullpen struggles continued at Progressive Field, giving up 3 runs in the 10th inning to lead to a 4-1 defeat against Texas. Jair Jurrjens was solid on the hill for Cleveland, going 7.2 innings and giving up just 3 hits and 1 earned run. He's been solid all year, posting a 3.08 ERA, which is impressive considering he's pitching in the American League. The one run he gave up was in the eighth on an RBI double. "We just didn't give him enough offense." said Manager Manny Acta in his post game press conference. "We got a nice run in the first, but couldn't do anything after that. You can't win games scoring one run and getting just 4 hits."
VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS: Happel was the only bright spot on offense, knocking in a run in the 1st inning
The one run Cleveland did get came on an RBI single to right by Brian Happel in the bottom of the first inning. He had a good game, hitting 2-4 at the plate. He did strikeout once, however. Cleveland and Texas hook up for game two of the series later tonight at Progressive Field. Justin Masterson will start for the Tribe, while Jeff Francis takes the hill for Texas.
