PROSPECTS IMPROVING, GRIZZLIES STRUGGLING
Fresno, CA (AP) - It all depends on how you look at it. The glass is either half full or half empty if you are a Grizzlies fan. On the half full side - you've got the play of prospects like right fielder Brian Happel, who is tearing the cover off the ball. Then, you have the team's performance overall. After making the playoffs last year, Fresno is a disappointing 22-26 heading into June.
VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS: Happel has been clutch all season long, here picking up a late inning pinch hit single against Oklahoma City last night.
Happel is easily one of the best storylines of the season so far, both for Grizzlies fans, and fans of the big club. The right fielder is certainly giving San Francisco supporters something to drool over. In 41 games, Happel is hitting just a shade under .400 with 10 home runs and 46 RBI. Also on the offensive side, first baseman Miguel Aguilar and second baseman Cristian Amaya have been impressive. Both are hitting over the .300 mark and have scored 25+ runs. As for the pitchers, Giants fans can likely rest easy, even if closer Brian Wilson goes down. Saul Imperator is having a great 2012 so far, with an ERA well below 1.00. He's also 14 of 14 converting save chances. Right hand starter Lindsay Fortune has also been impressive, despite his losing record. The 22-year-old has an ERA just north of 2.00 with 8 quality starts.
