HAPPEL, CURRY PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

New York, NY (AP) - Another week, another award for both Orlando small forward Brian Happel and Golden State point guard Stephen Curry. Happel was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the week of January 6-12. The Magic swingman led his team to a perfect 3-0 record last week with wins over New York, Atlanta and the Los Angeles Lakers.

"The award is certainly nice, and I give all the credit to my teammates," said Happel after practice yesterday when he found out he received the award for the third straight week, "It will certainly be a week to remember." Happel reached a milestone last week, scoring his 5,000th career point versus Atlanta. He was also mired in a bit of controversy, after speaking out about Kevin Durant and some other stars. For the week, Happel averaged 41.7 points, 15.7 rebounds and 5 assists per game.

It was also a good week for Stephen Curry, who was named Western Conference Player of the Week after leading his Warriors to victories over Miami and Sacramento, both at home. Curry averaged 24.5 points, 6.5 assists and 5.0 steals per game. He also shot 58% from the field for the week. It's the second time in three weeks Curry has received the honor.
