HAPPEL, ELLIS NAMED PLAYERS OF THE MONTH

Orlando, FL (AP) - In a month where Magic forward Brian Happel scored 67 points against rival Boston, 52 points in another game, and led his team to a 13-1 record, it's no surprise Happel was named Eastern Conference Player of the Month for November. "What an honor this is," said Happel upon finding out the news after practice today, "There are so many good players in this league, to be mentioned with them is great in-and-of-itself. But to be called the best is very humbling."

VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS: Happel's big air dunks against Cleveland were just some of many memorable plays throughout November

Happel has been a stat-making machine so far this season. He's averaging 38.3 points per game and 12.2 rebounds per game. His assists and steals are up from last year, at 4.8 assists per game and 1.5 steals per game.

Happel was certainly number one in the Eastern Conference, tearing up every team he went up against

Happel's shooting numbers have been astounding as well. He's shooting 70% from the floor, including 44% from long range. Happel is getting to the line and taking advantage, making 94% of his shots from the charity stripe. "There's a reason why we call him 'The Captain'," commented Dwight Howard, "He's our leader, he gets us going. And, he's always hungry. How can you not follow a guy like that?" Going back to last season, Happel has won every Player of the Month award in the East since November of 2011.

Ellis has been stellar leading the surprising Golden State Warriors to a 13-6 record

Meantime, Monta Ellis was named the Western Conference's Player of the Month for November. Ellis has been almost as outstanding, scoring at a 28.6 point per game clip. He also dished out an average of 6.5 assists per game and picked up 2.1 steals per contest. Ellis, who takes a lot of perimeter shots, has not shot the ball quite as well as Happel, but the numbers are still good, including 49% from the field.
