It's a clash of the titans in the 2012 NBA Finals. The top 2 teams in the regular season, appropriately enough, will be facing off for the championship. Orlando finished the year with 59 wins, while the Lakers were just one game behind with 58. These teams are fairly evenly matched. These are the best two defensive teams in the playoffs, with Orlando holding opponents to 83 points per game and L.A. holding its opponents to about 90 points. Los Angeles can score the basketball, averaging 102.7 points per contest in the postseason - and that's thanks to their great shooting: 48.6% from the field, 37.4% from behind the arc. The Magic have shot the ball pretty well, also, hitting on 45% from the floor overall, but just 30% from long distance.
KEY MATCHUP
The big question is which star will take over when it becomes necessary. Brian Happel has had a dream season, winning the league MVP, and he has continued to dominate in the playoffs. Happel outplayed LeBron James by far, averaging a whopping 43 points per game in the Eastern Conference Finals. But, Kobe Bryant brings the experience of five NBA championships. Will this be the first of many to come for Happel, or will the seasoned vet add yet another ring to his fingers and give yet another reason to be considered the greatest to ever play the game? Only time will tell. Tip-off for Game 1 of the NBA Finals is set for Thursday night in Orlando.
