ORLANDO OFFENSE BURNS HEAT, MAGIC TAKE GAME ONE

VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS: Happel Dunk-a-thon

Orlando, FL (AP) - The Magic have been waiting for this moment since one year ago, when Miami knocked them out of the playoffs in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals. This time, Orlando got off to a great start in the rematch, beating the Heat 110-96. And, the Magic did it with red hot shooting. Orlando jumped out to a 10 point halftime advantage thanks to 55% shooting from the field, and the Magic never really cooled off, connecting on 52% of their shots for the game. Miami shot the ball well, also, hitting on 50% from the floor for the game. However, it wasn't quite enough to keep pace.

Happel and the Magic were on fire from all over the place, here Happel hit one of his 2 three's

Orlando Forward Brian Happel really fueled the offense, setting a career high in points with 45, and breaking a team playoff record he just set last week in Game 5 against Atlanta, making 21 field goals. That surpassed the 19 field goals he made in Game 5 last week. Happel also added on 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Dwight Howard had almost equally impressive numbers, at least from the all-around perspective. Howard nearly recorded a triple-double, with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. The Magic center also added on two steals and two blocks. Brandon Bass was also solid, scoring 22 points on 10-20 shooting.

Happel seemed to be a step ahead of LeBron all night, here dunking the ball just past LeBron's hands

Miami's LeBron James and Dwayne Wade were able to get their points, each scoring 26 points. But, Orlando did a good job limiting everyone else enough to hold on for the victory. James also nearly had a triple-double, tacking on 10 rebounds and 7 assists. But, James and Wade combined for just 3-13 from behind the arc. Orlando clearly shared the ball well, collecting 30 assists to Miami's 20.

The Magic also won the rebounding game, getting 47 rebounds compared to the Heat's 30. Orlando also outrebounded Miami on the offensive glass, to the tune of 14-6. Game two is set for Wednesday night at the Amway Center in Orlando. Miami can still come away with a split and take away home court advantage.
