ORLANDO HOLDS SERVE, DEFENDS HOME COURT
Orlando, FL (AP) - Orlando's play in its first round series with the Cavaliers hasn't been pretty. But, they don't need to be. The Magic did just enough to escape with a 91-88 victory at home, taking a 2-0 lead in the series. Cleveland held the lead for much of the game. But Orlando got hot at just the right time in the fourth quarter to surge ahead, then barely held off the Cavs. The series now switches to Cleveland for the next two games.
Happel slamming it down for 2 of his 40 points
Orlando Forward Brian Happel continues to dominate unlike anything that's been seen for quite some time. Happel scored a playoff career high 40 points and pulled down 21 rebounds in the victory. "It's been a nice stretch for me, that's for sure. My teammates have been great, getting me the ball when I get hot, and even still looking for me when my shot's not fallin."
The Magic have plenty to be pumped about, taking a 2-0 lead to Cleveland
Happel did struggle a bit, only shooting 1-6 from behind the arc, making him just 1-10 so far in the series. Dwight Howard was a monster on the glass as well, grabbing 18 boards. And, Brandon Bass managed to hit the double digit mark as well. Vince Carter's 25 points led a scoring attack that had five Cleveland players scoring in double-digits. And, the Cavaliers hit on 50% of their three-point shots (6-12). Still, it wasn't quite enough. The big difference was on the glass, where Orlando held a 58-46 edge. Cleveland now faces what is essentially a must-win in game 3. A loss puts the Cavs in a 3-0 hole, and no team in NBA history has ever come back from that deficit in a best-of-7 game playoff series.
