HAPPEL WINS FIRST MVP
Orlando, FL (AP) - A year that's been one to remember for Brian Happel continued this week, after picking up some hefty hardware. Happel was voted as the league's Most Valuable Player - an honor he managed to accomplish in just his second year in the NBA. After finding out he had won the award, he was nearly speechless. But after gathering himself, he had this to say: "It's honestly a dream come true. I know that's cliche, but it really is something I've dreamed about, but never thought would happen. It's been a great year. But, this is all possible only because I've got great teammates. Without them, there's no way this could have happened."
Happel was a slam dunk choice for MVP
Happel remains focused on the real goal, however, adding "While this is certainly an honor, I'm hoping there are even bigger things to come, not just for me, but for my team. This trophy is nice - but it's a ring I and my teammates are after." Happel was picked ahead of Miami Heat Forward LeBron James, who had been MVP the last three years running. Happel averaged 32.5 points per game and 15.1 rebounds per game. He led the league in most of the big offensive categories, including scoring, rebounding and shooting percentage. Happel was also named 1st team All-NBA and 2nd team All-Defensive.

Thanks! LeBron was leading almost the whole way... until the last 2 weeks of the season. I just assumed they'd have LeBron win it every year lol
