MAGIC HOLD ON AT HOUSTON, DEAD "HEAT" FOR DIVISION LEAD

Houston (AP) - Orlando stops a late game surge by the Rockets, winning 103-99 on the road. The win puts the Magic in a tie on top of the Southeast division with their rivals, the Miami Heat. Orlando jumped out to a 9 point lead by the end of the first quarter and led by as much as 16 points in the first half. Still, Houston made a game of it in the second half, inching closer throughout the final quarter, until the Magic put the Rockets away at the free-throw line.

Happel steps into the passing lane for one of his 4 steals

Orlando Forward Brian Happel simply dominated on both sides of the court. He scored 38 points, including 21 in the second half. Happel also pulled down an amazing 21 rebounds, dished out 6 assists and picked up 4 steals. As for his supporting cast, they performed admirably. Dwight Howard had a double-double with 17 points and 17 rebounds. Gilbert Arenas nearly added a triple-double, with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Arenas did struggle a little bit handling the ball, turning over the rock 7 times.

As usual, Yao Ming was tough to stop. The Houston Center scored 22 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, picked up 6 steals and swatted three shots. Aaron Brooks also played well, scoring 21 points and hitting 3-5 from behind the arc.

The Magic are getting a chance to really fine-tune for the playoffs by playing a number of playoff-bound teams. Up next: a date at home against the 45-32 New Orleans Hornets.
