ORLANDO STAYS HOT IN CLEVELAND
CLEVELAND (AP) - Orlando picks up another road victory, slicing the Cavaliers 92-82. The Magic got off to a hot start, and so did star forward Brian Happel. He went off in the first quarter, outscoring the entire Cleveland team 20-17 and helping Orlando get out to an 11 point lead. The Magic never looked back, leading the rest of the way.
Happel had Vinsanity and the entire Cleveland team faked out in the first quarter, scoring 20 of his 38 points.
Happel was once again the star, scoring 38 points overall and pulling down 13 rebounds. But, he had plenty of support, including from Dwight Howard and Brandon Bass, both contributing double-doubles. Gilbert Arenas dished out 7 assists in the victory. Despite the relatively easy victory, there is concern about Orlando's struggles in both the second and third quarters. The Magic only managed 38 points combined in those 2 quarters. However, solid defense helped them maintain a double digit lead - as Orlando only gave up 36 points over that same stretch.
Happel contributing to the "D", swatting away another Cavs shot.
Vince Carter played in his third game against his former team this year, but has yet to be able to claim a victory. Cleveland lost all three meetings. However, Carter has performed well. In this latest clash, Carter scored 20 points and pulled in 9 rebounds. Orlando, meantime, remains very hot. The Magic have now won 10 out of their last 11. Orlando finishes out the month of March at home against Washington.
