Training Camp Begins in New York

What a way to start off training camp! The Jets have kicked off Training Camp '09 by releasing veteran Alan Fanacea in order to make some salary cap room. It's tough to watch him go, but he was hogging up a large portion of the salary cap, and it's time to get some new blood in there.

The big draft deals have been made. Juran Riley, Biff Below, Mack Jackson, Chuck Potter, Peter Bayless, and all the rest of the picks have signed. Bayless and Below were initially harder to sway, walking out of contract talks upon hearing the first offer, but they eventually came around.

Through each week of pre-season players were systematically cut from the roster, and at the end of pre-season, I honestly have to say this team looks smashing, and should be trouble for anyone standing in their way. This is what this year's pre-season looked like:

Pre-season week 1: Jets 14 - Steelers 10
Pre-season week 2: Jets 34 - Bills 10
Pre-season week 3: Pathers 10 - Jets 6
Pre-season week 4: Rams 5 - Jets 22

Now we move into Week 1. From there we'll see just how well this newly assembled squad of New York Jets will do.
