Jets End Chad Pennington's Season, Place Him on IR

Last Sunday we saw the Chad Pennington Era effectively come to an end in New York. Pennington left coaches and players baffled at his decision to take an extended leave of absence from the team, refusing to take another snap. Granted, Pennington has had to deal with an unusual amount of criticism from the fans, but why Pennington would choose to overreact in such a manner is beyond us.

"Chad made a decision. Was it the decision I would make? Probably not. Players have to deal with the fans, and we know that sometimes fans can be a little looney," Head Coach Lou McCullen said in an interview with CBS Sports, "I haven't talked to him since Sunday night. As far as I know, he's at his beach house in Florida with his phone unplugged. Hopefully he's satisfied."

When asked about what the plans were for the team as far as his future went, McCullen said they'd most likely seek to trade him.

"Whether we cut him or trade him, we're taking a cap hit. So we may as well just bite the bullet and get what we can for him, which at this point might not be very much."
