Jets RB Thomas Jones Traded back to Chicago

It came across the wire this morning that New York's Thomas Jones will yet again be wearing blue and orange. Chicago, with mere days left to spare, made the move to acquire Thomas Jones from New York in exchange for a fourth round pick in this year's draft. In response to the news of the trade, head coach Lou McCullen issued this statement:

"Thomas Jones is a great player and a good person to boot. We made this move so that he might have the opportunity to get a heavier workload in a system that he would be more suited in. We appreciated having him here in New York, and he brings a lot to the table now for the city of Chicago, and we wish him the best of luck in all of his endeavors."

We knew McCullen would come in and rock the boat to some extent, but we had no idea he would trade away a Pro Bowl caliber running back for a mere 4th round pick.

The move really shouldn't be that big a of a surprise (even though it is). Jones was getting less than 15 carries per game, and has failed to eclipse 50 yards in the past three games. Now, three games is no indicator of a player's ability, especially since he went over 100 in week one against the Dolphins. But McCullen and the rest of Jets Nation knows that with possibly the most loaded draft in NFL history coming up this year, they need to stock up on picks.

The deed is done, and TJ is now a Chicago Bear yet again. Leon Washington will now most likely assume the starting role in New York, and fans across the nation wait to see how things will develop.
