AHHHHHH, what a month of May! The mariners went 13-16, to push their overall record to 33-24. We still lead the division, but now only by one game over the Athletics.

Notable Mariners news:
Danny Hultzen is OUT FOR THE YEAR. He's been placed on the 60 day DL where he will be for the rest of the season. He'll finish the year with a 2-2 record and a 4.83 ERA with 20 Ks in 31.2 IP. SEE YA NEXT YEAR, Danny.
To take his spot in the AAA rotation, we called up Anthony Fernandez from AA. His current AAA stats are 1-1, 3.64 ERA, 33/10 K/BB, in 29.2 IP. He's actually been more valuable than Hultzen was in AAA.
To take Fernandez's spot in the AA rotation is M's #20 prospect Lars Huijer. So far in AA he's 2-1 with a 3.68 ERA and a 17/16 K/BB rate which is alarming. He has pitched 29.1 innings.
In other news, in mid-May, the Mariners released 29-year old RP Nick Hill, who was spending his days in the bullpen of AA Jackson. This was done to free up a roster spot for returning former Mariner Casper Wells! The Mariners signed him to a one year deal for the rest of this year worth 750K with a team option for 2015.
He's a 29 year-old LF/RF who used to roam the outfield at safeco. He's started out in Jackson, and so far he's batting .274 with one home run and 7 RBIs in 19 games.
Lastly, AA 1B Dan Poalini fractured his wrist and will be placed on the 60-day DL. In his place the Mariners have called up #6 m's prospect OF Austin Williams from A High Desert. So far, he's hitting .255 with a home run and 4 RBIs in 13 games (55 ABs) hitting out of the #5 spot. when Poalini gets back, we won't be sending Wilson back down unless he goes into a huge slump.
Around The League:
Cubs currently have a 1-4 in the batting order of
CF Arismendy Alcantra
3B Javier Baez
SS Starlin Castro
1B Anthony Rizzo
They also have 3Bs Mike Olt, Kris Bryant, and now OF Jorge Soler and SS/2B Addison Russel in AAA, waiting to make the jump. The question is, who, if anyone, gets traded this year? Who makes the team in 2015?
