Mock Draft
Posted on April 25, 2011 at 11:23 PM.
I thought I would share my picks and if I'm right, which is unlikely, it will be written soemwhere to prove it.

Rnd 1

Pick 1
- Carolina Panther - Von Miller - 1st pick and already I go completly against common wisdom. I think the re-building of this franchise is not a 1 draft fix and they know it. A move to an aggresive defence needs a speedy guy who can play that jack of all trades role. Miller is it.

Pick 2
- Cincinnati Bengals (From Den) - Cam Newton - With the shock of the 1st pick the Bengals decide to make a move, Denver wants out of the pick and dropping to fourth and collecting a 2nd rounder and switching 3rd round picks works fine. Bengals get a QB to either sit for a year behind Carson or to take over from him if he decides to ride off into the sunset. He could walk off into it he would fall over and break something.

Pick 3
- Buffalo Bills - Marcell Dareus - The safe pick here, Marcell comes in and helps the rebuild of the Bills front line, they now have two great players on the line and can rotate Marcell in at NT or move him outside and wreck havoc.

Pick 4
- Denver Broncos (From Cin) - Nick Fairley - This is the pick I struggled with, despite his red flags I believe a strong coach like Fox will motivate and get the most out of this player. As a 3 technique DT he will provide the inside pass rush so lacking in denver for the last 10 years and pair nicely with the speed of Dumervil.

Pick 5
- Arizona Cardinals - Patrick Peterson - Best player pick here, this gives Arizona a great secondary and instant impact player on special teams also. No QB in this draft worth taking with this pick so they get a future pro-bowler and an all around great guy.

Pick 6
- Tennassee Titans (From Cle) - Blaine Gabbert - Afraid SF will take a QB even with all this talk of how much the love Alex Smith, the Titans move. He provides a less toxic option at QB then Vince Young and if they bring back Kerry Collins they can give him a year to learn how to take a snap under centre.

Pick 7
- SF 49ers - Robert Quinn - True they need help in the secondary but one thing that helps that is a pass rush. Quinn is good value at this pick and if he can stand up and go after the QB then this will help SF

Pick 8
- Cleveland Browns (From Ten) - A J Green - Dreams do come true, Colt gets someone to throw to and shifting down a couple of spots didn't hurt one bit. Sure they need help on the defensive side in their switch to a 4-3 but atleast their wont be 9 in the box for Hillis to run at.

Pick 9
- Dallas Cowboys - Tyron Smith - Dallas needs to get some youth into this OL, Tony Romo isn't the worst QB in the league and getting an OT to plug into either side of that line would help greatly in a division that likes to rush the QB.

Pick 10
- Washington Redskins - J J Watt - I'm picking that they plan to fix their defence and build a team, however Mad mike Shannahan is at the helm so anything is possible. Expecting a sensible pick is probibly asking too much at this point so seeing Julio Jones go off the board here would not shock

Pick 11
- Houston Texans - Cameron Jordan - Switching to a 3-4 with an undermaned staff they need versitile picks and lots of them. Jordan can play inside or off the edge in the 3-4 and should be a nice value pick at this point.

Pick 12
- Minnesota Vikings - De'Quan Bowers - Can't have enough pass rushers, Jared Allen on one end and Bowers the other would be quite the threat to the divisions talented QB's. Not sure whether they can/want to retain Edwards at DE.

Pick 13
- Detroit Lions - Prince Amukamara - The offence looks good, provided Matt Stafford is not in a cast, need to fix that leaky defence. A talented Cb like Prince will help combat those 4 WR sets of GB

Pick 14
- St Louis Rams - Julio Jones - They get Sam Bradford a nice WR to grow old with. He can run and catch and won't get stabbed by his wife (sorry Brandon).

Pick 15
- Miami Dolphins - Mark Ingram - They don't really want this pick, its in an awkward position but they have to use it. Selectign a QB and expecting it to save your franchise is not going to happen so they take the safest option. Forget the wildcat, they ground and pount with Ronnie & Mark

Pick 16
- Jacksonville Jaguars - Aldon Smith - They continue to build through the DL, not a flashy or exciting pick but he will plug in to the rotation or even start and be a very solid investment.

Pick 17
- New England Patriots - Ryan Kerrigan - NE get a player who can play outside in the 3-4 and could slide inside if required. As with most of NE picks this is a luxury pick but the Mastermind could do anything on draft day. He does seem to know more then the rest of us.

Pick 18
- San Diago Chargers - Akeem Ayers - Sorry Larry English but you haveen't lived up to your hype as "lights outs" replacement. Hopefully Akeem can avoid the same fait that fell another Ayers in the AFC West.

Pick 19
- New York Giants - Adrian Clayborn - NY loves to stock DL and unleash them in a rotation. Another solid DE to add to the rotation. They could also look at the OL to help Eli.

Pick 20
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Jimmy Smith - TB will cut ties with one troubled Cb and bring in another. I would say Jimmy is far less problematic and they can get some decent DE help next round.

Next 12 picks coming tomorrow

You have the Dolphins drafting a runningback in the 1st round to pair w/ Ronnie Brown? I don't think that will happen considering we probably will let Ricky and Ronnie go to free agency. I doubt we draft a running back. Why not a QB?

What did you mean in your explanation for the Bengals the part at the end? It's a fragmented attempt at humor im guessing but would you explain it?

if they let both RB's go to free agency, wouldnt the logical pick be a RB?

Well the dolphins wont take a RB even if they release Ronnie and Ricky. Ronnie has made to much $ since being drafted and not enough production, and Ricky has proved himself to be a 1,000 yard guy or a great backup, plus the dolphins arent looking at to keep either, number one on there board is deangelo williams, and they have even said it, and he has came out and hinted he wants to play for them, and he loves miami, so they will either take Locker or Mallet to have there Qb, already have Marshall, and add Williams to that and you have instant offense to go with the number 6 defense so playoffs are likely even with the jets and pats in the same division!
