Well it is that time of year again. NCAA 11 is out and the itis of slider and roster editing is in full bloom. I told myself I wasn't going to get up in it. However I like perfection or damn near it when I play sports games.
And unfortunately sliders can only change so much of the cpu AI. Eventually you will be forced to edit the rosters too. WARNING WARNNG WARNING ! Editing rosters takes DAYSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. Like a good 4 days or so for your average person with a wife and or kids.
Mainly due to it is 120 schools. Did I edit all 120 schools ? Not completely, I did about 90, then got tired LOL. Was it worth it ? Yes. Game plays completely different.
To me, the main problem with NCAA 11 rosters was how high they had freshmen rated across the board in ALL the positions. Stuff like that inflated teams over all scores. Had freshmen coming in with 92 awareness, 96 speed, 94 acceleration, 94 pass blocking, 98 run blocking, 96 man coverage, 98 zone coverage, 95 play recognition. It was just crazy.
And on big name schools like USC, Alabama, Ohio St, Texas, Oklahoma....it was 10 times worse. Another glaring thing about the rosters was the speed. Almost every WR & CB had 94 or 96 speed with acceleration in the 90s as well. It was like game full of track stars. They even had some QB's in the game with 93 speed and 96 acceleration. I was thinking to myself wow a game full of Michael Vick's.
And lastly the 3rd glaring thing I noticed was how high all the CB's man coverage and zone coverage was. No wonder you rarely seen seperation or CB's biting on pump fakes. So once I fixed all that, I was a happy camper.
Then I noticed the option teams weren't getting off like they should. So a quick edit to all the option QB's elusive ratings fixed that.
Now is roster editing for everybody ? No. Especially for those who solely play online. However for the dynasty die hards then yeah it is if you want the stats to come out life like.
In a few more weeks Madden 11 will be coming out......Usually, for the most part Madden has been pretty good with the ratings of players. So the main thing with that game will be the sliders.
For those wondering well how you know what rating should be what and what not. Easy.....just get online and look up stats....Internet is full of stat websites.
Then it is more of a trial and error. Put a rating at a certain number, write it down somewhere for you won't forget, sim a season. Then repeat the process a few times with different number ranges and you can pretty much in get in the general area where a number needs to be at to get the stats you are looking for.
Simming a dynasty don't take long at all. Like 5 minutes per a year.

It s absolutely a big issue. As you simulate the dynasty it gets worse. My VT hokies only got better and better. If you making the roster god bless you. This is an impossible task. I think it will take 3 days just to fix 'bama cuz the roster is a disaster.the gameplay definitely makes up for roster by it very annoying.
